Something to consider staging when we can go back to doing theatre the way we love. A stage adaptation of Carson McCullers The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. https://www.dramatists.com/cgi-bin/db/single.asp?key=4199

Hello all. We wanted to provide an update on where we are with our fundraising and make another appeal for support for our campaign. First of all, we would like to thank all of our supporters who have donated to the fundraising campaign thus far. We are half-way into our fundraising campaign and have reached $8,780, or 59% of our goal of $15,000. Without everyone's support we would not have made it to this point. That being said, we have 19 days remaining until the targeted e...nd of the campaign on June 30th and we still have a ways to go to reach the goal. If you haven't donated already, and are able to , won’t you consider donating to King’s Town Players. We are solidifying our plans for the future, but we do need financial support to help make those plans a reality. Consider donating $20 (the regular price of a ticket for a performance) or whatever you can any amount will help. We even offer the ability to make recurring donations to our company, that you can cancel at any time. Even if you are not able to donate at this time, please share this with friends and family who might be able to support us. We have taken great pride to be able to bring quality theatre to the Kingston area over the past decade. This virus is hurting everyone and it's especially painful for us having to sit back and not be able to bring live theatre to others in a time where we need it most. Thank you in advance for your help in these trying times. We wish you continuing good health and security. You can donate at www.kingstownplayers.com

King's Town Players Update - May 4, 2020 To all of our supporters, This is a difficult and challenging time for our community and the country at large. We felt it important to share what is happening with King’s Town Players.... We are so thankful to have a loyal and courageous community of patrons, volunteers, staff, artists, and communities who care for King’s Town Players as it creates theatre and experiences that nourish and enrich the human spirit. In these trying times though, we have had to close our doors mid way through our season and have lost the potential revenues from two productions, as well as several other events that were in the planning. Unfortunately our expenses continue as we have rent and other bills that don’t stop as the theatre has. With large social gatherings prohibited at this time, we are facing the probability of no significant income for some time. On top of that even when restrictions are relaxed, we face a new reality for theatre that physical distancing will remain in place and we will have to rethink our audience attendance patterns. In addition we face the very real possibility that many in the general public could be reluctant to attend events that could possibly put them at risk. Until a reliable treatment or vaccine is available this situation will continue. As a result of all of this, we are forced to evaluate the viability of our organization’s future. Our board has been discussing this through remote sessions, and are working on with ways that we might weather this crisis. We all love bringing theatre to the community but the financial impact this has on our company is significant. We will provide further updates as we continue our deliberation. We thank you for your support and wish you all well. King’s Town Players Board of Directors

King's Town Players has made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming production of Jitters as a precautionary measure in response to the spread of COVID-19. We are acting in accordance with the advice from local public health authorities. Their recommendations for social distancing would be difficult to guarantee in a theatre setting right now. It is foremost in our minds to protect the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, staff and artists. We will reevaluate ...the situation as we move into forward and and anticipate providing an update on our upcoming production of Oleanna or before Friday, April 3, 2020. Thank you for your support as we navigate this ever-changing situation. We are a non-profit theatre group that values building community. This has been a difficult decision but we feel this is the right decision to keep our community safe and healthy. What if I have a ticket to Jitters? We will issue a full refund to you for any tickets purchased for Jitters. All ticket holders will be contacted directly to ensure that they are aware of the refund. How can I help? We thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support during these extraordinary times. If you wish to make a donation to support the King's Town Players it will go a long way to ensuring that we are able to continue creating live theatre as soon as the business is back to normal. Visit our website to make a donation. We will continue to look to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Public Health Ontario and KFL&A Publich Health for recommendations, guidance, and direction. As we receive more information, we will provide updates via email and on our website in the coming weeks. We are acting with an abundance of caution as a not-for-profit organization and have carefully considered the tremendous impact of this decision. Thank you for your patience, support and understanding.

COVID-19 Fund Raising Campaign Help us to keep our theatre going! The current environment with COVID-19 is putting us in a position where we risk losing a company that has built a legacy of memories. The one thing we have that this virus will never take from us is a true love and appreciation for the fans that we've been able entertain over the years. In this time of need, we ask you for your help so we can continue to bring live theatre to our incredible community.... Won’t you consider donating to King’s Town Players in our great time of need. Although we are working on ways to reduce our rent and have other expenses deferred, we desperately need financial support because we do not rely on grants. Our main source of income is from our box office receipts. Those of us in the arts community and those of us who support the arts know the financial pressures that have long been increasing for those in the arts. We have set a goal of $15,000 to help us through this crisis. Consider donating $40 (the regular price of a pair of tickets for a performance) or whatever you can any amount will help. We even offer the ability to make recurring donations to our company, that you can cancel at any time. It would help us be able to pay the bills so that when we kick this virus, we can get back to celebrating life the best way we know how. We love our community and hope to remain a part of it for many more years to come. We have taken great pride to be able to bring quality theatre to the Kingston area over the past decade. This virus is hurting everyone and it's especially painful for us having to sit back and not be able to bring live theatre to others in a time where we need it most. King's Town Players is a not-for-profit theatre company that has always been privately funded... no grants! To enable us to stage the quality productions that we are known for takes far more money than you might probably imagine. Ticket sales and advertising only account for a portion of our income so we have to raise the rest by fund raising events and personal donations. Having had to cancel our final two shows for the season, and having no other opportunities for live events for the coming months, we need your help to keep our company going! King's Town Players was founded in 2010 with the belief that we love what we do and want to share that love of theatre with Kingston. Over the past ten seasons we have produced forty-eight plays, nine live radio shows and one 'found space' production. We have brought one original play to the stage and nineteen Kingston premieres. We have worked (played) together with several other local theatre groups, and we believe that working together is the best way to ensure our collective futures. Thank you in advance for your help in these trying times. We wish you good health and security. To donate, please visit our website (www.kingstownplayers.com).
