Spending lots of time behind screens isn't good for anyone... especially kids! We love that more and more parents are bringing their kids to the studio for spinal checkups. Chiropractic adjustments are great to promote good posture, help the nervous system work properly, and reduce aches/pains. The awesome part about treating kids is that they tend to respond really quickly, and we can often correct misalignments and improper patterns early on.
"I woke up with a huge kink in my neck" "I slept wrong, and now my back hurts" ...we hear this on a pretty regular basis. To keep your spine happy during sleep: ... - on your back: use thin pillow, and put pillow under knees for support - sidelying: use a medium/thick pillow for head support, and put a pillow between your knees - on your belly: this position is really not great for your neck, but if you have to, use a thin pillow Anyone else have any tips/tricks they love?

As our schedule gets more and more full (thank you!) - we may not always have availability exactly when you need it. But, we do have a WAIT LIST. You can add yourself and preferred times on our online booking app, or just ask our receptionist Brenda. We often have last minute changes in our schedule and do our best to accommodate those on the wait list.

Ontario is going into a province-wide lockdown today. Chiropractic services are deemed essential, and so our studio will stay OPEN for appointments over the next month. We continue to adhere to recommended screening/sanitizing protocols and will be sure to update you if there are any changes.

Common posture changes in pregnancy: -> forward tilting of the pelvic bones - this can cause pelvic pain, tight hamstrings, and low back pain -> increased curve in the low back - causing strain and often discomfort -> stiffness/tightness in upper back - due to shifting mechanics... A combination of chiropractic care + specific exercises can make a world of difference in reducing these changes and associated discomfort.

Back pain is very common during pregnancy due to a variety of reasons: - joint laxity (due to hormonal changes) - altered posture (changing biomechanics) - weight gain - tight ligaments/muscles... Chiropractic adjustments can help restore balance to the spine, pelvis, and nervous system. More balance = less discomfort
CONCUSSION TREATMENT While rest is often an important aspect of recovery after a concussion, there are many other things to do that help you heal more quickly. Treatments can include: balance exercises, gentle aerobic activity, manual therapy, and specific cognitive and neurological exercises. A concussion occurs after a force is sustained that makes your brain 'shake' inside your skull. The most common ways for this to happen are: - motor vehicle accidents - sports injuries - falls... It's important to get assessed asap after an incident, to rule out red flags (ex. fractures, bleeding) and get the proper care.
We'll be focusing on concussions over the next few weeks. We are lucky to have Dr Elina working at the studio, who has special training in concussion diagnosis and treatment.
Concussion symptoms can vary greatly, but can include: - headaches - dizziness, double/blurry vision, balance problems - nausea/vomiting - difficulty sleeping... - confusion, difficulty with memory or concentration - sensitivity to light/sound - feeling sluggish/groggy It's important to get checked out if you think you may have a concussion as there are treatment options available.

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury sustained from a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. It can have a wide range of symptoms, and is quite common. Luckily science has come a long way in preventing, detecting, and treating concussions. Our very own Dr. Elina has special training in this area as well!
