In October, numerous breast cancer awareness campaigns took place across Kinross’ global operations as part of breast cancer awareness month. In Chirano, the Women’s Club celebrated their fifth anniversary by hosting awareness seminars focused on training women on breast examination best practices and ways to spot abnormalities. In Paracatu and Russia, Kinross hosted awareness and prevention campaigns for the local community, and at Round Mountain, the ‘mammovan’, a mobile mammogram clinic, was available for community members to receive free testing. In October, the mine celebrated a significant milestone by placing the first ore at the pad, which was completed on time and under budget and is a major part of Fort Knox’s Gilmore project. Kinross Gold 12.10.2020

Kinross Chirano recently donated 7,000 mathematical sets to all students taking Ghana’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the mine’s catchment area. The donation is part of an educational development plan in Chirano that involves the construction of nine schools, five ICT centres, teacher housing and science laboratories. Captured below, Thomas Nyarko-Danquah, Human Resource and Community Relations Manager, Chirano, presented the students with the donation and spoke on Kinross’ commitment to developing the region and providing mentorship and quality education to benefit the community long-term.
