With all the... garden work, and need to bend forward , take some time each day to help your posture , to reduce pain in the mid. Thoracic region. The pectoralis on the front wall of chest are the antagonist muscle to the Rhomboids , so lengthen pecs. After or before rhomboid strengthening. Keep the body moving! I love this analogy! You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. W...hy did you spill the coffee? "Because someone bumped into me!!!" Wrong answer. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. *Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.* Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. *So we have to ask ourselves... what's in my cup?"* When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it. Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others. To use ice or heat, that is the question. If you roll your ankle today and it balloons up on you, that's a great time for ice. You're managing an out-of-control... inflammatory process. After that initial swell, heat and movement are best. It's important to note that the inflammatory process is part of healing. The goal is to keep it from getting out of control, not to stop it altogether. We need good circulation for healing and heat promotes circulation; ice restricts it. Additionally, ice doesn't just restrict circulation IN, but OUT as well. Once the initial inflammatory response has subsided, heat and movement can clear out lingering swelling much better than ice while promoting healing. See more
At any given time, one can find countless "dysfunctions" in the body. Their existence alone does not make them important. If you go about releasing everything t...hat's tight, moving everything that's stuck, etc., you'll likely just destabilize everything. A good provider will target the things that really matter. Flip-flops are famously rough on the body and it's NOT just because they lack support. They encourage flexion of the toes (to hold the shoe to your foot) at a time in gait when you should be EXTENDING the toes. The result is compensation throughout the body, especially the neck.
