This week, from September 20th-26th, is National Forest Week, and it's used to raise awareness about the extremely beautiful and valuable resource we have-- forests. Every year in BC, an average of 2.5 million hectares of forest get burned from forest fires. To put that into perspective, 1 hectare is about the size of 2.5 football fields. On top of that, an average of 193,000 hectares of these forests are being logged and cut down annually in BC. Here are some ways you can he...lp preserve the forests in your day to day life: - Plant a tree when you cut one down or even just plant new trees - Walk on already flattened trails, don't make new ones - ALWAYS monitor any open flames while in the forest - Everything you go into the forest with, should come back out with you Check out this awesome video on BC forests and the special care they require! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEczJe9WUH4&feature=youtu.be
