WE MUST CONSIDER: * due to climate change we are losing archaeological sites at an alarming rate * our heritage legislation currently has little to no provisions for emergency interventions to save these sites * large-scale, environmentally unfriendly companies are not being compelled to take responsibility for their unique scale of impacts to the climate AND these sites * climate change highlights yet another way Indigenous populations are a threatened population, as the v...ery fabric of their heritage is being, literally, washed away * erosion of sites by a changing climate may actually be a cultural transformation process and not a natural formation process IT’S ALMOST HERE! So cool to see the bark/paneling still attached to this ancient fishing feature!! A fishing feature like this one can be a fishing weir, trap, or fence. It consists of an obstruction placed in tidal waters or across a river to direct the passage of, or trap fish. Traditionally built out of wood or stone, the presence of fishing features such as this one can suggest a camp or village is nearby! The good condition of this feature is due in part to its remote location, but also ...as a result of great care and management of heritage resources by the local community! #Archaeology #EthicalArchaeology #ArchaeologyForGood #Fishing #AncientFishing #ArchaeologyBC #Education #Kleanza

We must all work together to increase awareness of the issue of bullying and help to establish better workplace policies and labour laws to prevent this from happening in the first place. This issue must be resolved across Canada, because these numbers are not acceptable. #Archaeology #EthicalArchaeology #ArchaeologyForGood #ArchaeologyBC #Education #Kleanza #Bullying #WorkplaceBullying #NationalBullyingPrevention #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth

National Bullying Prevention Month made us think about our archaeology company and how much we appreciate the culture of respect, kindness and care the has been created over 10 years. It reminds us to acknowledge the many people and organizations who have zero tolerance for bullying and harassment - people who are doing things right. Do you have a company whose culture you admire? #Archaeology #EthicalArchaeology #ArchaeologyForGood #ArchaeologyBC #Education #Kleanza #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth #Bullying #Prevention #CompanyCulture #CultureOfRespect

Bullying at work is the repeated, health or career endangering mistreatment of one employee, by one or more employees. The mistreatment is a form of psychological violence and is often a mix of verbal and strategic insults preventing the target from performing work well. You might be surprised to learn that: 1. The most common targets are long-term, well-established employees 2. The most common victims are women in their 40s.... #Archaeology #EthicalArchaeology #ArchaeologyForGood #ArchaeologyBC #Kleanza #Bullying #BullyingPrevention #NationalBullyingAwarenessMonth #HelpEachOther

Archaeology is the science that studies human cultures through the recovery, documentation and analysis of material remains and environmental data. SCIENCE RULES! And all communities should have access to learning opportunities that encourage our future scientists in all disciplines. For National Science Week we are looking at the impact of Covid-19. Technology adoption has accelerated during the pandemic. The equity gap has widened and impacted youth in low-socioeconomic com...munities. Actua and Let's Talk Science focus on segments of the population vastly under-represented in STEM education, placing special emphasis on reaching girls, new Canadians, Indigenous kids and youth, kids and youth residing in at-risk communities, and kids and youth living in rural and remote areas of the country. Actua delivers STEM programs to 350,000 young Canadians every year. But, COVID-19 now affects how education is delivered. "The pandemic has impacted all students nationwide, but not equally. Youth who live in rural and remote communities have less access to broadband and technology. To solve this issue, we've launched an at Home - a series of remote online and offline STEM learning opportunities and kit-based programs to engage the most vulnerable youth populations from coast to coast to coast. - Jennifer Flanagan, CEO of Actua https://www.actua.ca/en/athome/ Let’s Talk Science has created the 'Horizon Project' to provide these youth with resources that support hands-on exploration, science inquiry and reading. 130,000 kits will be sent out across Canada to offer meaningful, fun learning opportunities, focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education, and do not require technology or internet access. https://letstalkscience.ca//horizon-project-aims-send-a-ca https://www.newswire.ca//shifting-to-at-home-education-lea #Archaeology #EthicalArchaeology #Happiness #Kleanza #ArchaeologyForGood #ScienceWeek #Science #nationalscienceweek2020
