"[I] found in Yiddish art songs 'a frame through which I could inhabit stories about myself. I could take a song about a lonely yeshiva bocher...and I could perform that song as myself, as a Black man who has often asked myself many of the same questions as this yeshiva bocher was asking at the end of the 19th century.'" Don't miss this fantastic interview with vocalist, composer, and arranger of Yiddish music and Azrieli scholarship alum, Anthony Russell, who will be joining... the #KlezKanada26 faculty this summer! Remember, artists and scholars ages 16-35 can apply for an Azrieli Scholarship now! The priority deadline is June 15th, apply today: https://klezkanada.org/the-azrieli-scholarship/application/ #unmuteyourself
