Click here to book: https://meditateintoronto.org/courses/#ukaioa Understanding Karma and Improving our Actions ~ Weekend Course with Gen Kelsang Sanden Understanding karma can help us change our life so much for the better. Karma is a special instance of the law of cause and effect whereby our actions are causes and our experiences are their effects. Virtuous actions are the cause of future happiness and non-virtuous actions are the cause of all future suffering.... In this course we can learn how to abandon non-virtuous actions and how to purify past non-virtuous actions to prevent their effects from appearing in the future. We will also learn how to engage in powerful virtuous actions that lead to the supreme happiness of enlightenment. About the Teacher: Gen Kelsang Sanden is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver. He has been a long time student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. He is well loved for his compassion, sense of humour and the clarity of his teachings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcal427hTS8

Many people today feel lost, even broken, with life seeming to have no meaning. Worry, anxiety, despair and depression consume both energy and relationships across the world, everybody is involved. However, the teachings of Buddha offer ancient wisdom and practical compassion which, if actively put into our lives, can utterly transform our world bringing hope, purpose, light and meaning where previously there was only misery and darkness. Everybody is welcome! In this special retreat, suitable for people new to Buddhism, we re-visit themes previously covered in Sunday morning classes: what causes us to become angry, anxious and depressed; how to overcome feelings of loneliness and isolation and how we can begin to defeat these bad experiences, to banish them from our life, by reclaiming control of our experiences. Online Meditation Course ~ Understanding our Feelings | Nov. 28, 10 am - 1 pm * Click here to book: https://meditateintoronto.com/.../understanding-our.../ * We have all experienced strong positive or negative feelings while at the same time not understanding where they come from. In these instances, we enjoy the positive feelings or suffer through the negative feelings without really understanding how they have arisen, or even why they eventually disappear. Feelings often are fleeting and we usually associate them with outer events or objects, but deep down we know this is incorrect. If we learn the true source of our feelings, we then have the wisdom necessary to start creating the causes of positive feelings, eliminating the causes of negative feelings and thereby gradually increasing our happiness and peace of mind.

In general, everyone who has physical or mental pain, even animals, understands their own suffering; but when Buddha said in his first teaching, ‘You should know sufferings,’ he meant that we should know the sufferings of our future lives and develop a strong wish to liberate ourself from them now while we have the opportunity. Join us online or in person ~ Nov. 24 - 7:00 - 8:30 PM with Resident Teacher, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, for a teaching and meditation on the First of Buddha's Four Noble Truths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvfTV4ZDf5M

Book here: https://meditateintoronto.com//the-4-opponent-powers-a-ha/ Date: Saturday, Nov. 21 Time: 10 am 1 pm Cost: $24 | Free for KMCC Members... Why is it much easier to experience suffering and problems than to enjoy a peaceful, happy mind? Why do we have so many obstacles to our meditation practice? All of our difficulties and suffering are the result of our previous negative actions performed under the control of delusions, in this life and in our past lives. Fortunately, Buddha taught that we can remove the imprints of these negative actions from our mind through various purification practices. The strength of our purification practice depends upon the strength of the four opponent powers. In this class you will learn what these four powers are, how they function and how to generate them in your mind. Come experience the power of a purified mind! Each session includes a talk and guided meditations. Schedule: 10:00 11:15 am Teaching w/meditation 11:15 11:45 break 11:45 am 1:00 pm Teaching w/meditation This course uses Prayers for Meditation. If our mind is peaceful, we will be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we will never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful. Even if we are in the most beautiful surroundings and have everything we need, the moment we get angry any happiness we may have disappears. This is because anger has destroyed our inner peace. We can see from this that if we want true, lasting happiness we need to develop and maintain a special experience of inner peace. The only way to do this is to train our mind through spiritual practice gradually reducing and eliminating our negative, disturbed states of mind and replacing them with positive, peaceful states." - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, How to Transform your Life ~ a Blissful Journey *Download FREE e-book by clicking here: https://howtotyl.com/*

Sunday Inspiration ~ Pure happiness comes from wisdom " Wisdom functions to eliminate doubts and misunderstandings, and in particular it functions to dispel ignorance. If we understand the benefits of developing wisdom we will naturally strive to attain it. The opposite of wisdom is ignorance. Nothing harms us more than ignorance - it is the source of all our problems and the root cause of all our negative actions of body, speech and mind. There is no better way to use... our precious human life than to strive to overcome our ignorance, and the way to do this is to develop wisdom. THE POWER OF PROMISE, THE POWER OF PRAYER O Great Assembly of Blessed Ones, please listen to what we now say. Previously you Seven Tathagatas made prayers to fu...lfil the promises you have made in this, the final five hundred years of Buddha Shakyamuni’s doctrine; we request you now to show us the truth directly. "Nowadays we can see in the world so many problems, so many people experiencing difficulties. Some people ask me what we Buddhists should do to help. "My answer is: Our job is to pray - to pray for these people to pacify their negativity, wrong views, and extreme views. Our job to solve these kind of problems is to pray for everyone to become friends, living in harmony with good relationships and to pacify their extreme views, wrong views of selfish intention, and so forth. That is our job. I believe this is the best method to help, to benefit. "Through receiving blessings our prayers will be fulfilled, I promise. This is our Buddhist way of helping and benefiting to solve these kinds of problems. I believe you will solve the world’s problems gradually. "A practitioner who receives the special blessings of Medicine Guru will receive a special power on their body and mind so that when they pray with a compassionate motivation their prayers will be fulfilled. "Altogether the seven Medicine Buddhas made 44 promises. We can request Medicine Guru, 'Please fulfil my wishes, my prayers, because you promised to.' "If we practice continuously, if we rely upon Medicine Guru with strong faith and devotion, gradually we will receive power and our prayers will definitely be fulfilled."
