If you're reading this, I'm going to assume you're more than likely a mom...or one of my immediate family members or friends, since they consistently read my blog lol...Maybe you're just curious to see what I have planned for the next room in our Rosie by the River project OR maybe you are actually planning a bathroom reno for your kids too! Look at me go! Sharing yet another room plan with you, in one week! Are you impressed? lol. Honestly, it's just too exciting and fun for me not to at this point. We've seen the overall design aesthetic, AND the ensuite, so I thought I would pop over to our second floor den area. First...the before. To orient you in the house, this is on the second floor, right across from the staircase. [ 603 more words ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/a-den-with-a-bar-rosies-design/

Now that you've (hopefully) seen the overall vision for Rosie by the River, it's time to narrow in on the design plan for each space in the phase one renovation. Today, I'm starting with the ensuite!! A quick reminder of where we started of course... The challenges of the space: a very small shower area (that you can barely see from this angle), a narrow footprint with a load bearing wall that restricts the flow and how much we can change the space, a large window in the tub area (that is not appropriate for a shower space), oh and the fact that it needs a full gut job! It’s been an exciting few days over here with the launch of something new in the design world! Have you heard?! The Canadian e-commerce site for Crate and Barrel got a complete upgrade and it is better than ever!! Here’s the lowdown... Crate and Barrel used to have a lot of items that were viewable to us Canadians but weren’t actually available, which made the online shopping experience somewhat frustrating. I have to be honest with you, I like to clean. There’s something so satisfying about spending, let’s say, a Sunday afternoon scrubbing, organizing and putting my home back together. And yet, when someone offers to clean your house when you are 6 months pregnant, it’s hard to pass that up! Especially when that company seems like a really reputable one. After taking a weekend off to celebrate Sylvie's first birthday, we are kicking off the new week with our design vision for Rosie! Yay! A whole week of beautiful content!! First, if you never got to experience a full tour of Rosie (our new/old home that we are fixing up in phases over several years) you should definitely pop over to [ 533 more words ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/designing-rosie-the-vision/

It's been almost a week now since we started the move from our beloved Ravine House over to our new home, Rosie by the River, and I feel like so much has happened in the last 7 days it's hard to make sense of it all. I've probably been through every emotion possible as we've said goodbye, ranging from sheer excitement to nervous anxiety - which is most likely what every person feels when they tackle a big move. One of the ways I have tried to maintain some normalcy and generate some positivity during this crazy time is to focus on our home and decor projects. They may not be earth shattering before and after reveals, but just adding in a few small, fun projects has been good for this restless, creative spirit of mine. And my focus, even before we got shut in, was always to breathe some new life into Jack's big kid bedroom. [ 889 more words ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/jacks-big-kid-bedroom/

It shouldn't surprise you that with a new baby, a busy toddler and a drive to log as many work hours in between that I would be a bit behind in other areas in my life. Blogging has taken a huge backseat...but truthfully it hasn't bothered me much. I've enjoyed focusing my energy towards other avenues. And yet, today, I am here because I just [ 251 more words ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/not-one-but-two-reveals-to-sta/

This bedroom has gone through a lot of changes over the years - a glorified dumping ground to a guest bedroom and then an office. But now, it's seen the biggest transformation into our baby girl's nursery. And of course, it's my favourite of all. This space was so much fun to design and pull together and I did it with the help of some really great small shops. [ 1,366 more word ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/the-nursery-reveal-baby-girl-e/

Well, it's no secret. I've been neglecting this little blog for the last few weeks. I know you probably don't need any excuses but I honestly have some good ones - you know just the whole it's summer, I am enormously pregnant with a busy toddler, running an interior design business and taking on an airstream kind of excuses. As most of you know, I am currently expecting my second little one and yes, this will be the last. When I was pregnant with Jack, I was working from home and living in a lot of stretchy pants and oversized sweaters in the -30 weather. But with this pregnancy, it's a different story. I am crazy busy, meeting clients, working long hours and trying to get through what will surely be a hot summer. [ 1,022 more word ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/the-sprout-collection-modern-m/

Tofino is one of our favourite destinations in BC. Ryan has been multiple times and now I can say I've had two glorious vacations there. And I will keep going back. We actually visited Tofino on our very first trip with Jack and it was perfect. He was a rockstar on his first flight, first road trip and first visit to the ocean. Is there a lot of sneezing, sniffling, and coughing going on in your home like there is in mine? Especially when the season changes? I have been patiently waiting for this day to come...the day when we could finally reveal one of my absolute favourite home projects to date. This one is special for many reasons - I got to work with my husband once again (which always makes for the smoothest renovation process), I instantly connected with the clients and absolutely fell in love with the concepts we created together. I have to preface this by saying I am beyond thrilled that this day has come. I'm not sure why, but there was a lot more anticipation around finding out the gender of the second baby than there was with Jack. It's probably because we were just excited about having a baby in general and honestly DID NOT care either way. [ 425 more words ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/gender-reveal-its-a/

( Jack's nursery from 2 years ago...see the full reveal here!) Well we are two weeks away from finding out whether this baby to be is a boy or a girl! That sure snuck up on me! After the first ultrasound, it felt a lot more "real" that we were expecting...but it will be even more so after we find out the gender. Don't adjust your eyes...I actually blogged again! I know!!! It's been far and few between but between life, the pregnancy, Jack, blogging for the Everygirl and then SO much client work, the blog has fallen down the list. Though, don't despair! Even if it's not a daily (or weekly, who am I kidding!) occurrence, I won't be stopping anytime soon AND the posts I do complete should be extra amazing...in theory right?! Ok so I can't hide the fact that I feel a bit guilty - I have been seriously neglecting the blog the past few weeks! But I can honestly say it's for good reason. Sleep...such a precious thing! And yet, for a lot of people, a full night's rest isn't always achievable. I am generally a great sleeper (probably from being so tired looking after a baby that my body now just steals any amount of sleep it can get!!) but, unfortunately, my husband had been struggling with getting a good night's sleep for months. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I have a two year old!! This past year, Jack hasn't really graced the pages of the blog as often, since I chose to focus a little less on lifestyle and a lot more on design/decor. In his first year, I did some regular posts, documenting our journey together. But, from one to two, I decided not to write full posts and opted for some small shares on social media, and keeping a lot of the day to day moments private. It feels like it's been a long time since I did a book round up (Spring 2018 to be exact!). With a fresh year upon us, there's no better time to get back on the horse. As much as I love real plants and using them throughout my home, sometimes the real stuff provides some challenges. Who knows what I mean?! Those with black thumbs raise them high! Ok, maybe that's being a touch dramatic but we aren't all skilled at keeping plants alive...especially during the winter months. I am very strategic about which plants I do buy and where I place them in my home, but sometimes I can't help but feel like I am quite literally throwing money out the door when those leaves start to droop. With each January calendar change, I always celebrate with a post on the year's design trends. This time though, I wanted to do something a little bit different. I wanted to take a look back at my top 2018 decor trends and see where they stood now...and also, where I see them going in 2019. Trust me when I tell you, I have sifted through my fair share of blogs, magazines and inspiration to give a fair assessment on the topic, but certain shifts you can never predict. Typically, at the end of the year, I do a full review that, believe it or not, takes a LONG time to curate and write up (see 2017 here and 2016 here as examples!). But when I took a look back through 2018, I realized that with less blog posts, I needed to update the format a bit. It seems like just yesterday that I shared our entryway makeover plans with Lowes Canada. And yet, the day is already here to show it off in all its glory! As the major renovations come to a close over at our Ravine House, I can now concentrate on the small stuff. It's true we've lived in the house for nearly three years, but because we lived in a constant renovation zone, I never allowed myself to finish the decor side of things. I've collected things over the years and have some beautiful family heirlooms that are, of course, the staple pieces, but when it comes to small home decor accessories...well, that's where I can still have some fun! Stop me if you've heard this before, but I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! And I particularly love decorating for Christmas!! As you can well imagine, tackling a kitchen renovation is no small feat. It takes a lot of time, energy, money and organization. But the end results are most definitely worth the sweat and, sometimes, tears. Our own kitchen has become the best gathering place and has brought us infinite amounts of joy already. One of my favourite rooms to design for my clients is the kitchen. I normally struggle a lot when it comes to designing for myself (I love too many things!!), but our kitchen renovation actually came to me really easily! There was a clear vision from the beginning and I honestly enjoyed the whole process a lot!! The only challenge was working within our footprint...our smaller square footage meant we had to get a bit creative. [ 1,026 more word ] http://www.kristinalynne.ca/the-best-tips-for-designing-a-/
