A reminder that our service starts in an hour! Zoom link available on https://www.kelownaunitarians.ca. "Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand, and make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself." - William Martin

Healing starts with the small steps we take every single day to repair something in our lives or in the world These beings and connections have often been mistreated and broken in some way. This could be a friendship, connection with the world around us, or the way we embrace everybody’s unique individual expressions. Healing requires us to listen to others and ask these questions. ... What do they need? What is hurting them? What can we do? In a sense, you are healing the world, by healing those relationships around you. Healing is connection, forgiveness, grace and understanding. Check out our website where you can find November’s and the previous months’ resources. We have explored and cultivated deep listening, anti-racism, resilience and renewal. #kelownafamily #kelowna #ylw #kelownafamilies #spiritualkids #unitarianuniversalism #uufamilies #kelownacommunity #healing #healingourselves #healingtheworld #forgiveness #okanaganlife See more

Join us this morning for our worship service: Transgender Day of Remembrance: A ceremony for Healing our World November 20th is Trans Day of Remembrance around the world, and was first celebrated in 1999. It began with the intent of memorializing Transgender people who had been killed in the past year, and has since evolved to include a web-based project called Remembering Our Dead, and a international day of action. This Sunday morning we will be gathering together to honour the Transgender lives that have been lost through violence, but also to recognize the violence and harm that is inflicted towards the Trans community daily, and how we can start moving towards healing these wounds. Find the link to join us on our website https://www.kelownaunitarians.ca/

This month, on our website’s ever expanding family section, we are going to listen. We will tune into voices with experiences unlike ours, the voice inside of us, our body, and nature’s energy and rhythms. We are actively listening and speaking up in support of others and our own needs. Listening requires empathy, compassion and awareness. Paying attention is not just one thing but instead a bouquet of mindfulness! Your family can engage with these concepts through a v...ariety of resources below: Video storybooks Record the story of how your family came to be passionate about an aspect of social justice Sound treasure hunt Discussion questions- ask one during dinner every night!
