MEET TARA. Tara's journey is so motivating. Be sure to read her story below! FEARLESS & FABULOUS! Tara is 41 years old. Her goal is to carry positivity with her during all of life’s struggles. She believes that you have to live your best life even when enduring life's challenges. She was blown away by a breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 39. After undergoing surgery and treatment she found herself battling with anxiety, depression, medically induced fatigue and... chronic pain. After some amazing retreats and adventures including rock climbing in Colorado, she decided that cancer was not going to define her. She decided to slow down so she could take care of what is most important being a mom to her four amazing children (her youngest turns six this weekend) and to showing love in everything that you do. Her advice is to wake up everyday, put both feet on the ground, take a deep breath and start the day with a smile in your heart. Tara has almost completed her first year of three years at Conestoga College and has proved to herself that she is capable and once you out your mind to something you cab do anything. MEET SHANNON! Shannon is such an awesome gal. Swipe to see her transformation! Shannon is 26. She is a communications operator with WRPS. She is an active volunteer with the service as an Ambassador, auxiliary constable and mentor for the WRPS Cops and Youth Program. Shannon also recently began volunteering with House of Friendship as a "Shelter Socializer". This opportunity allows her to meet with vulnerable members of our community, and support them. She was also a m...entor for Big Sisters Go Girls Program, which involved teaching young females about positive body image, promoting better self-esteem and physical activity. Despite her active volunteering, Shannon is very shy. MEET MARY! Mary was one of our FEARLESS & FABULOUS Women who journeyed through out make over process! (Swipe to see her before & after!) Here's a little bit of Mary's story! Mary's parents immigrated to KW from Egypt over 50 years ago. Her mother especially taught her how to be a strong woman in a time when women were seen and not heard.... Her advocacy work is very important to her and doing what she can to make a difference in the community is what she lives for. It has not been an easy road becoming a public servant. It has taken a lot of personal and family sacrifice to make it to her current position. Mary's overall goal is to empower more women to take a lead, in every role whether it be in government, CEO's, whatever they choose and she wants them to not only reach the glass ceiling but to break it and do it with confidence. There are don't listen to those who say "You can't" or "You shouldn't" Her hope for women is that they recognize that they can be a driving force. Maxine is 42 years old. She grew up in the country and was raised within the rich heritage of the Mennonite community. The core values and inner strength that she displays day to day are what have kept her going through life's adversities. When circumstances in her life changed d...rastically, she chose to work even harder to be a positive example for her children. She chooses to face life’s battles with both integrity and honesty. The past few years have been the most transforming time of her life as she chose to make herself a priority. So far on her journey, she has achieved significant weight loss, re-established healthy relationships with her two teenaged sons, has put an emphasis on her own personal development and remains focused on conquering her fears. Her hope for women is that they don’t settle for an average life. Everyone needs to live a life that they love. Her advice is to be an achiever, an overcomer and a doer. MEET DEB!! Debbie is 64 years old. She is no novice to helping others and putting others' needs before her own. She has been a caregiver for her daughter and is a volunteer for the 45th Kitchener Scout Group, CNIB and KW Toastmasters Club for many years. Debbie realized that she had been giving so much of herself to others that she left very little time for herself. She has enjoyed every step of the process and believes in paying it forward not just to others, bu...t to yourself. Her hope is that women live with resilience. All the contestants are such shining examples that we are all doing a good job. She is a with a wife, a mother and a metastatic breast cancer fighter. She has been fighting breast cancer for 7 years, has completed 21 chemo regimens, has had 9 surgeries and many health setbacks. But Rebecca is a fighter. She strives to be a positive role model to all the ladies in her life, including her ...14 year old daughter. She hopes her positivity, fight and drive to kick cancer's butt brings confidence to other woman battling cancer.
