Most of you know Barrie and Don...na Smith at Land oh lakes petting farm,Barrie is in the hospital as he recently had a heart attack,and he is in ICU in hospital,him and Donna recently moved to , as the no longer have there house.they are in need of some help with things with the animals donations of grain/feed for cows,/horses,pig feed, shavings for animals beds,vegatbles and fruit(apples,carrots,lettuce,bannass,squash etc) cat food , dog food, and also donations of large jugs of water as their water keeps freezing is also very helpful See more

What is new at the farm? Right now we are under construction. We needed to drill a new well and put in underground pipes leading to the barn and canteen/guest centre from the new well. Unfortunately the grounds are not suitable for visitors at this time. Our old well was a dug well and the water was no longer suitable for consumption, so we had to have a new well installed. This has been a huge expence for the farm which cost over $10,000.00. Between Covid this year and this... well cost, it has really hurt us and we are struggling. We do not have enough hay or extra money to purchase enough for the winter. If any one knows of someone who has hay that they can donate or sell for a good price, please get in touch with them. Delivered would be best because we can only pick up 40 bales at one time with our trailer. We hope to be selling some items on line on the facebook market place soon. We are trying to raise funds to keep us going until spring. Anyone who has items they wish to donate, e.g. crafts or unwanted item, anything for xmas gifts ect. please drop off at the farm or house next door. We are asking for help in anyway with raising funds, volunteering at the farm or donations. We appreciate all the help we can get. Your donations of empties have been good to help pay for the grain and shavings for the animals. Please keep them coming. We hope to put some more videos up soon of the animals for your enjoyment. I thought I would share a experience that happened to me today. I visited the store Cloyne GeneralShell Hwy41/SpencerAve to return a defective bathroom handle s...et that I purchased 1 1/2 weeks ago. This was my first opportunity to get back to this store since I have been working so many days and I finally had some time off. The sales rep at the counter refused to either give me my money back or supply me with a new set. I knew they did not have any in stock because I had purchased the last one. It clearly had their price tag on it and I had it in the original packaging. He told me that it not their policy to take it back and that all sales are final. I told him again they sold me a defective unit. He said it was not his problem and that all sales are final. I told him that this was not right, I purchase many thing in their store every year and they should stand by their product. He said I was being rude and needed to leave the store. I was speaking very calmly and not loud and said I am not being rude, but he was. I said because I am questioning you on your policy, that does not make me rude. He very rudely said to me again to leave the store. I asked him why? I wanted to purchase North FrontenacTownship bag tags for the dump and he said no we are not selling them to you and instructed his other employee not to sell them to me. I told him that I spend thousands of dollars every year purchasing fuel and hardware parts for Land O'Lakes Rescue Petting Farm and for $11.99, you are kicking me out of your store because I am questioning his policy. I could not believe this. I support all local businesses and I send many of our cliental who visit our farm and people who visit our local information booth to this shell for various products. I do not wish to continue to support this Shell station or the Kaladar Shell because of their business policies. I calmly walked out of his store and vowed to myself never to return. This is bad business and I think people who use this facility for gas, products, MR.SUB or liquor purchases, should think twice in supporting a store who does not stand by their product or their long time customers. Last weekend for to visit the rescue open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 11-3. Then they are closed for the season. You can still visit the animals all year round after this weekend you can call 613-336-0330 to book a tour
