Be a Better Bowler: Pro Tips When choosing the right grip, think about how you want to throw the ball. Is it going to be a straight ball or a hook/curve? It is far easier to control the ball if it is held with the fingertips rather than in the palm of the hand. Holding the ball from underneath with fingers spread apart and a firm grip should allow you to maintain control throughout the throw. The grip should feel natural and repeatable. Although Lanes at Membertou is not part of the Phase One reopening plan, we are thrilled that the community and multiple businesses are beginning to open again! Fun Fact Friday Candlepin bowling is the type of bowling here at Lanes. Did you know that candlepin bowling is a variation of bowling that is primarily played in Canadian Maritime provinces, as well as the New England states of the USA? It is played with a handheld sized ball and tall, narrow pins which resemble candles (hence the name).

#ThrowbackThursday: Wii Bowling! This game is available on the video game Wii Sports, which was released in 2006 and has been popular among all ages and abilities. If you have one, now's the time to dust off the old Wii game console, get everyone up moving and brush up on your skills. You can even challenge those in your household to a friendly tournament!

Were you and your family looking forward to bowling during March Break? Why not create a DIY Bowling Game at home! There are a variety of different materials that can be used to represent bowling pins available within your household: plastic bottles juice/milk cartons... empty paper towel rolls plastic cups, etc. To knock them down, all you need is a ball.
