There is no Las Chicas del Cafe without this man right here! It’s no coincidence that our anniversary falls on our dad’s birthday. He is our inspiration and motivation, and to this day insists on showing up to work every day; (at 77 years young! )... His passion and dedication to excellent coffee grounds us. Feliz Cumpleanos Papa! #whoseyourgrower #truetocoffee #quinceanera #laschicasdelcafe

Happy Birthday to our beautiful mother! Your love, patience, and passion guides us through the darkest of nights and brightest of mornings. You are the rock behind it all. Between roasting, packaging, cheerleading... you’ve been here to help with it all!... Thank you for believing in your family and fiercely motivating us always. We love you so much and wish you all the best in the next year. The original chica del cafe!

The quinceanera tradition is one that celebrates the passage from girl to young woman. It is marked when a girl turns 15. Guess who is turning 15 this November 4th? That’s right! This girl, Las Chicas del Cafe, is turning 15. No longer a newbie on the coffee scene, we are marching into adulthood!!! Much has changed since we opened our doors back on Nov 4th, 2005. Our business has grown from roasting on our little L5, at a small industrial unit, and employing ourselves on...ly. Look at this Quinceanera now, roasting on our beautiful P12, growing our team to include mom and dad, Tasha, Rachael, Jacob, and Aracely. We are truly blessed and extremely grateful to all our customers, staff, family, friends, suppliers, and coffee growers for the amazing support of the past 15 years. #truetocoffee #quinceanera #15thanniversary #coffeeroastery #laschicasdelcafe #nicaraguancoffee

We have some exciting things coming this month to celebrate our 15th anniversary! #laschicasdelcafe #quinceanera

Las Chicas Del Café 29.09.2020

We can’t believe it’s been 15 years already since we first opened our doors! Some of our most loyal customers will remember those first 10 years in the little industrial complex on Exeter Road. We outgrew any stretch of man power, coffee storage, and roast capacity between us. The long 12 hour days with young children at home was no easy feat, and we are so grateful to our family for being extra pillars of support during those first few years.... 5 years ago we moved from London to St Thomas into the beautiful Historic Caso Station, and finally had the space to invest in a larger roaster to combat our growing orders. An exciting upgrade from our little Probat L5 to our big Probat P12! We hired staff that would stay with us to this day, sharing and growing our passion for coffee into a successful dream. We couldn’t do it without our team, and we are humbled to carry on our father and grandfathers legacy of incredible Nicaraguan Coffees. We can’t thank you enough for the outpour of support we’ve received this week to celebrate our anniversary. We’ll be highlighting some memorable throwbacks over the next month as we walk down memory lane!

Las Chicas Del Café 02.08.2020

As we approach our 15th birthday, we thought it would be only right to share where our family's coffee story began...... Our family's coffee history begins in 1922 with our great-grandfather who settled in the region of Las Sabanas with our great-grandmother and their 12 children. Our grandfather planted his first hectare of Arabica Typica on his father's farm at the age of thirteen. In those days, the only coffee variety planted in the area was Arabica Typica, and coffee pla...ntations were planted using the little coffee trees that would spring from seeds dropped by birds, monkeys, and other animals. Eventually, our grandfather bought his own farm La Union and did the entire coffee process from picking to sorting to transporting his coffee on mules to port. In those times there was no road to and from the mountains of Las Sabanas and coffee had to be transported on mules for two days to the nearest terminal on the Pacific Port where it would be shipped to Europe. Following in his father's steps, our father began his work on the coffee plantations at the age of 12. He grew up working in all coffee labours such as picking, pulping, washing, drying, hulling, sorting, and loading mules, and eventually as his own father did, he planted his own plantations. We personally source every bean, and the work with every coffee grower is a commitment and testimony to our family’s heritage. It is a privilege to be able to share our passion with you, one bean at a time. #whoseyourgrower #truetocoffee#directtrade

As many of you know, our partnerships with independent cafes are very important and dear to us, and we felt this was very well said by Rob@SocietyCafe.
