Osteopath? What’s an Osteopath? Laser Health Solutions is not just a laser therapy clinic. Some of the most effective manual therapy techniques used by the therapists in our clinic are osteopath techniques. Osteopaths focus on four areas of therapy.... 1. Structural Imbalances. In our clinic, we find that many people require the osteopath techniques that assess and correct structural imbalances. These imbalances, which are found mostly in the pelvis and vertebrae, can lead to significant pain all along the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. Structural imbalances can also lead to sciatica, knee pain and plantar fasciitis. 2. Fascia. Fascia is the connective tissue that attaches, stabilizes, encloses and separates muscles and other internal organs. Pain can result when fascia loses it flexibility, when adhesions form or it becomes inflamed. An osteopath uses specific techniques to loosen tight or adhered fascia in the body. Some of the more common areas where this may happen are the rotator cuff (shoulder), low back, elbow, ankle and foot. Our therapists also use cold laser therapy to treat inflammation of the fascia. 3. Craniosacral Therapy. Craniosacral therapy is also provided in our clinic when appropriate. It is a very gentle palpation technique with the goal of balancing the bones, nerves, fluids and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area. This technique may be used when someone has cervical (neck) pain, ongoing symptoms from a motor vehicle accident or headaches. 4. Visceral Work. Though this isn’t used in our clinic as much as the first 3 methods, visceral work can be beneficial for people suffering with internal organ issues such as gastrointestinal, liver and bladder complaints. When laser therapy is used in conjunction with osteopath techniques, you are receiving a more complete treatment. If you have shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, low back pain and/or sciatica, neck pain, tennis elbow or knee pain, give the clinic a call to set up an appointment. 403-235- 2737

To All of Our Valued Clients, In an effort to protect our clients and employees, as well as to do our part in flattening the curve, we have made the decision to close our clinic on March 28. This is a temporary measure and we will be contacting you when it is safe to reopen the clinic. There may be the possibility soon of allowing emergency appointments. Nobody is safe from referred pain Everybody comes into the clinic thinking theyve got it all figured out. Even the masters are at fault in this department. Yesterday, a patient and fellow manual therapist had hurt his thigh doing some exercises to prep for the beach months. He came in with a very tight inner thigh muscle that he could put his finger right on the spot. He was so sure that it was the knee he completely forgot that all the muscles above and below the pain th...at can be feeling the strain as well. It hurts to stand and sit he says. Hip muscles can hurt when standing and walking, but most often are relaxed when sitting. On the other hand, the gluteus muscles and hip stabilizers need to support your weight when standing, walking and sitting. The glute medius, piriformis, and iliacus muscles can all hurt down into the thigh when cranky. He was very surprised at just how sore these muscles were too! Finishing with some light work on the spot and he was back to cartwheels the next morning. The next time you are in pain, try and feel the real problem instead of the just symptoms! See more

"At 59 years of age, and severe pain in my lower back, my life was at a standstill. Work was difficult, golf impossible; life in general was going downhill. I've tried many different things to help my pain; nothing worked or just temporarily worked. Laser treatment for me is the answer. The first 5 treatments saw little results. Then the pain started to decrease. Now I'm almost back to 100% of my early self. Thank you Laser Health Solutions.... Jim

Butts are the topic today. With new years just passing there is a big push for the tush as people try getting into new exercise regimes. Making a healthy change is great, but one of the dangers of this is pushing an under-conditioned body. This often results in injuries. If you normally spend most of the day sitting at the computer, jumping into a new routine can lead to unwanted pain and disheartening aggravation. Sciatica is so common that our therapists can see 2-3 scia...tic conditions per day in our clinic. People that have suffered from sciatica for years or just a few weeks, all have the same symptoms - Deep ache in the hip that goes down the leg after walking, driving, or sitting too long. In some cases it can it can even hurt down the front of the leg down to the knee or people can have hip pain when sleeping. Pain in the heel can also be a sign there is a possible problem with the sciatic nerve. Sciatica often comes from -Chronic sitting creating trigger points in the rump. -Imbalance of the hips creating overworked muscles from trying to hold your body up straight. -Impingement of the sciatic nerve, gluteus, or nerve root in the lumbar spine. -Overworked, overtired muscles that create sciatica like pain into the butt and leg. Which muscles are tight and which are weak, you dont really know until you have a professional that is trained in this assessment to tell you. Take out the guess work and risk of working the wrong muscles. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it might be a good idea to get a treatment to help you resolve it sooner.

We are seeing people like Janet 2-3 times a day and we love seeing them improve. Now is the time to get treatments started before Calgary's beautiful summer gets here! After ten treatments I can now enjoy a good night's sleep. I had low back pain for over 4 months. I slept for many weeks on a recliner chair because it was so painful getting in and out of bed. Now I have no problem. I have tried other treatments, with little or no success till now. I would like to recommend la...ser treatment to anyone who needs it. I had suffered with back pain for many years and the relief is wonderful. I thank you, to the happy, pleasant technicians who treated me. Janet

Hi Blaine and Staff, I am so pleased with the results of Laser Health Solutions. A few years ago I was treated for plantar fasciitis and after 3 treatments I had no pain. Recently I had an injury to my back from a fall that locked my stomach muscles, pulling my back out. I experienced muscle spasms. I was amazed at the results after only 4 treatments.... Just one month ago I despaired over ever walking normally again. Now I am totally pain free!! Thanks so very much! Vicky

Most people in their lifetime will struggle with Plantar Fasciitis in some form. If you experience heel pain that started for no reason and unable to walk comfortably, there is a chance of Plantar Fasciitis. It can be debilitating, terrifying, and annoying. Here are some easy steps that can be done at home to help until you can get a proper assessment and treatment. 1. Stretch the calf and soleus together Facing a wall, bring the opposite foot to the wall, keeping your bac...k straight, lunging forward. The closer you bring the knee to the wall, the greater the stretch. Do both feet. 2. Stretching the calf and soleus #2 Stretches the lower fibers of the Achilles using a book, block of wood, or other elevated surface. The affected foot is rested on the surface while the other leg is brought forward, producing a stretch. 3. Myofascial release using a hard ball or tennis ball to landmark the calf and rolling up/down the leg. 4. Smile! Plantar fasciitis doesnt have to be a death sentence for your activities. The right treatment can get you back in the game. These tips and a call to LaserHealth can be the difference. It is straightforward homecare and the right treatment that prevents people from needing long term healthcare. Feel free to share and tag friends to get them back to active care. Their appreciation could mean a bigger present under the tree this year.

If you have a great experience at LaserHealth, let us know! We always appreciate testimonials and reviews on google or Facebook. Thanks to heather for sharing a story that is so familiar to many. Years and years ago I hurt my low back. I use to do a lot of physical work when I was younger, and I think that just might be the cause. My doctor prescribed anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants and finally took an x-ray to find a bit of Osteoarthritis in my low back (L4-L5 area).... I tried other therapies with not much success and finally ended up getting cortisone injections into my facet joints. The first one lasted for 3 months, the second for just 3 days! I then had a nerve block that didn't work. It just kept hurting. I couldn't do any movement at all without pain. I was very depressed with this problemOh my gosh! I couldn't bend, walk or sleep, and was constantly taking pain medication with our relief. After 9 treatments of laser treatments at Laser Health Solutions, it's like I have a new back! I'm about 90% improved. I couldn't bend my knees like this without pain beforethis is wonderful. My friends are now saying, she's got her smile back. They are very pleased for me and I am sure they are happy I am not as cranky. Heather

Nothing is easy when you live with chronic back problems. Simply trying to sit, stand, or put your socks on can be harder then you want to admit. When you or someone that you know isn't seeing any improvements, you need to book an appointment at LaserHealth Solutions. Our clinic is great for treating persistent back pain and we believe in giving you the chance to see pain free results in just a few treatments! Here is some kind words from one of our patients that suffered wit...h back pain for years: It gives me great pleasure to write a few lines after meeting you, going through the evaluation process and then getting treatment from a professional like yourself. As I mentioned before during our meeting, I have been a long-time patient of back pain, suffering during the most part of every year since last 20 years. I had a surgery from a very reputed surgeon in Calgary, continued to go to [other] therapists. I will not deny that [they] did give me some relief from pain, but [they have] always been a temporary fix. I heard, from different sources, about your laser treatment and honestly, I was not sure if I should try or not, but when you are in pain, you want to try anything that might help keep you functional. I decided to get an appointment and the first interview / evaluation time spent with you was a great and wonderful experience and I knew that whatever happens to my pain will be a separate topic, I was lucky to have met a professional who knew what I was talking about. Now, after going through several appointments and treatments, I feel wonderful and relaxed. Only the time will tell how my body reacts to this in near future, but I can tell you today that I do not regret a bit contacting you and getting treatment. What is a Laser Treatment or Laser Therapy? If I try to explain, I will just be making up the story as I have no idea or clue about it. I can just only say, "It worked for me!" Thank you very much for your time and attention during my therapy. Best regards, Waheed

We really appreciate when our patients take the time to write and tell us how we did. Here is a new testimonial for the presses! Zachary's first one! Good Morning: I just wanted to drop you line to say thank you! Thank you! Thank you!... I came to you for sciatic pain and heard about you from 66CFR! I met with Zachary and he is my hero! He told me he could help and it would take about 4 to 6 treatments and he was right on. I could barely walk and now I am walking and moving without even a twitch! I still do the simple exercises that he told me about, they have become part of my daily routine! I sing your praises to anyone who listens and recommend you whenever I can! I am so grateful that you were here in my time of need! Have a wonderful day, Sandra

Why wont your back pain go away? When muscles are chronically contracted, they can forget how to lengthen completely. This is called Sensory Motor Amnesia and it causes a great deal of pain. Think of someone who works in a seated position many hours a day an office worker or a truck driver. Those hip flexors learn how to stay short and tight. Then they pull on the pelvic structure until the muscles of the back or hip start screaming! Youd think that forcing the hip ...flexors into a deep stretch would fix it all up. Right? Not really. Stretching tight muscles can engage the Golgi tendon reflex, which inhibits lengthening of the muscle. So, basically, youre just playing tug of war with yourself. A better way to fix this is to gently help the muscles remember what theyre supposed to do. Its called Somatics. Muscles are moved in a specific way that engages the sensory motor system. Muscles can then remember how to lengthen and relax completely. The pelvis can move to its homeostatic position. And the back muscles say ahhhhhhhhh! Somatics is part of the Laser Health Solutions treatments. Thats right we dont just do laser therapy. Give us a call to book an appointment or learn more about our clinic. See more

Were always happy to hear about our patients finding good results in our clinics. Here is one of our latest satisfied customers from June 2017. Dear Mr. Skleryk, I would like to share with you my positive experience regarding my recent visits to your clinic.... I was previously diagnosed with herniated and degenerated discs and was told by doctors that I required a complicated surgery that may result in serious side effects including loss of control of bowel activities. I was referred to the Laser Health Solution clinic by a friend and upon my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised to see a big change in the severity of my pain and after 8 sessions I can say that I feel a lot better and the pain is not as severe as it was a few months ago. My pain was 8/10 even with medications. However, after the many sessions I had at the clinic, I feel the pain is less and on many occasions, I dont take the medications at all. I would like to thank you and your staff for the warm welcome, the professional services and the excellent care you offer to your patients. I truly hope that patients with similar cases, can use your services to achieve their treatment goals and recover. Thank you once again Sincerely R. H
