Its that time of year again. Working on finalizing a calendar. No 1812 Calendar as we need to be able to do something that the masses can purchase. Having said that, the cost of calendars to have them made has almost doubled since we started this project. I have put together a calendar of some of our best work from this year. The cost would be $30. from us and $35 if we had to mail them. We are looking for input. Would anyone be interested before we put out the money. We had a wonderful day Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Backus Page House Museum. It was wonderful to be out and about with friends and enjoying being back out in the hobby. So much has happened this year but this event was fabulous. The organizers and volunteers worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone was safe and followed the rules. Well Done!!

During the 1930's Spain was racked by civil war as the Spanish Military fought to overthrow the legally elected democratic republican government. The League of Nations led by Britain and France placed an arms embargo on Spain, in an attempt to stop the civil war. The Spanish military supported by Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini fought to defeat the Spanish Republican Government. Russia came to the aid of the Republic supplying arms and military advisors. People from man...y countries came to assist the Republic forming volunteer battalions. 1200 Canadians formed the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion helping to form the 15th International Brigade. The Brigade fought in some of the bloodiest engagements, trying to stop the Fascist on slot. When these Canadian Volunteers returned home, the Canadian Government ordered the R.C.M.P. to spy on these brave men which lasted until the 1980's. These Canadians who where the first to fight the Fascist and Nazi aggressors tried to save a democratically government. Where treated as second class citizens by their own. We shall not forget their sacrifice. See more

This weekend was supposed to be Sackett's Harbor weekend. Covid took care of that. We decided to use the time off to adventure around our province. First overnight stop: The Sword Inn Bancroft. Here are a few pics from our first day.

This is the weekend we were all supposed to be at Longwoods. Due to these crazy and uncertain times, we are all home on facebook. We all miss you and can't wait to get back out to see everyone. For now, enjoy a trip down memory lane to Longwoods 2015.

There is an ancient curse that goes something like this; "May you be forced to live in interesting times." Each generation has its "Interesting Times" that they look back upon. Sometimes those times come one right after another and can feel overwhelming. My parents generation lived through the Great Depression of the 1930's and the Second World War 1939-45.
