Interested in a career in Sports and Entertainment Law? Two great events coming up that are open to Law and Society Students: 1. On Friday March 13th from 12:30-2:30 in MFH 2370 the Law Faculty is hosting a Career panel discussing careers in sport and entertainment law. The panel will consist of: Ritch Winter- Ritch established The Sports Corporation (TSC) in 1984, now an international company, representing NHL players such as Marian Hossa, Carey Price, Ryan Getzlaf, Mark Gio...rdano and many others. Ritch currently consults TSC, represents a number of NHL clients, and acts as Managing Director of North America and the NHLPA for 4sports &Entertainment AG. Ritch has had an involved and successful career with the NHL; he was referred to by Chicago’s Rinkside Magazine as the games First player-agent superstar. Ritch continues to be the most written and read about agent in the history of Canadian sport. James Smellie - a Partner at Gowlings whose professional experience in sports law has involved acting as counsel to high-performance Canadian amateur athletes in diverse disciplines, on negotiations, arbitrations and other dispute resolution on a variety of matters, including national, International, Olympic and Paralympic team selection; discipline; athlete funding; and related issues. Jolan Storch - Former partner with Macleod Dixon LLP, now General Counsel and Business Development Advisor to the Canadian Olympic Committee who specializes in the intellectual property issues involved in sponsorship and brand management in the sporting world. 2. On Tuesday March 31 from 12-2, also in MFH 2370, Brian Burke will be coming to discuss his experience in both law and sports. Mr. Burke is a Harvard Law grad, and is currently the President of Hockey Operations for the Calgary Flames.

The SSA is hosting a screening of the film Fixed on Tuesday October 28th from 5:00-7:30 in AD140. he event will consist of a viewing of the film followed by discussion and questions with Dr.Wolbring, a featured speaker in the film.
