Hey all, very excited to announce Surfing card set #2. Legends of Lawrencetown I've been talking with a few of the older surfers out around Lawrence...town beach area and have decided to put together a legends surfing card set. This set will be in chronological order(to the best of my abilities). Starting with the first families/people to surf in the Lawrencetown beach area. This set will including everyone up till 2006(for this set!). I'll have some guidance(a few of the older generation surfers are helping me out). I think It'll take a bit of time to compile all the info and pictures so i wont expect the set to come out for a couple of months. Ill keep you posted on progress. If you started surfing before 2006 and would like to be included in this set please send me an email at: [email protected] In the Subject line please stat: Legends Surfing Card In the email please include your favorite surfing shot(highest resolution please), can be an action shot or still..both look great. Also, please include: -Name (as you'd like it to appear on card, nicknames if you'd like) -Goofy or regular -Years surfing -Favorite board -Favorite break(anywhere in the world) -Favorite surfer/influence -Other important info/accomplishments you would like to include(keep this short) All this information will be on the back of each card. The Kids Surfing Rookie card is an example. The legends cards will be a bit different. (Working on a design with Mark Ryan). Once we a have a couple of designs we will put out a poll to see which one everyone likes. I expect this will be a 50 or 60 card set and will come complete with binder. Not sure on price for this set, but we plan on keeping it as cheap as possible. We are working with Minuteman Press and they have always been reasonable and super helpful. We have signed all the kids up for the non-Competitive heats.. if your child only wants to go into competitive please see below for sign in time. When you sign in please tell us if your child/children would like to sign up for the competitive heats(beginning at 12:10) If your child/ children only want to be in the competitive heats please sign in before 11:30. We will compile a schedule and display the competitive heats when everyone signs in. Looks like a beautiful Surf day tomorrow till late afternoon. Please bring snacks, sunscreen, water. **Update August 15 2020** Latest Poster, Heats, Timeline Surf event and movie night scheduled for August 29th 2020.... Back-up date of August 30th. (as this event will depend on weather and surf conditions) Hey All, Surfing event: Latest Poster - final version out soon Kids Heats and timeline - see Picture. To keep the day manageable. we are keeping it to 20 min heats starting at 9:30. (time line might change slightly) The non-Competitive heats will have commentary, not judged, free surfing, Fun!! The competition heats will be judged. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded. We would not have time for semi finals, finals for three age categories. The day would be too long for kids. We have a lot of prizes.. so we will be doing draws throughout the event. Big thanks to Sponsors and supporters!!! Age categories: 3 - 7 years (3 to under 8) 8 - 12 years (8 to under 13) 13 - 16 years (13 to under 17) Currently we have 45 kids signed up for the event. This alone is a great number of groms(kids) and should be an awesome Event and beach day!! We are going to cap the entries at 50 so if you are planning on signing your up your kid(s) please contact [email protected] as soon as possible. Outdoor movie night: Tea room parking lot. August 29th 2020 (Entrance to Kannon Beach Surf Shop wall) Parking at stoney beach, just down the hill. Movie(Surfs up) Starts promptly at dusk. We have chairs available but lawn chairs might be more comfortable! (so maybe bring some from home if you have them) Snacks/popcorn and drinks will be provided (Lawrencetown beach Cafe) but are limited. We will be following covid19 Nova Scotia guidelines.. so there will be spacing, family groupings, and masks where 6 ft isn't possible. Rock Throwing Event: Wil be happening during the Surfing event. Open to Kids and parents. Opening round, semi finals, then the finals. This is a trophy event!! and gonna be a lot of fun!! get practicing grown ups!!
