Frustration, anger and stress are the emotions and see and talk about most in the workplace. But what lies beneath these ‘’surface’’ emotions? Often times we decide to suppress our emotions, not understanding that they come from a deeper place within. They will eventually come back until we understand, process and learn where they come from. Here are 3 ways that can help you learn to effectively deal with emotions and avoid falling in the trap of ‘’avoiding’’ them.

You may think - what does self-love have to do with my capabilities as a leader? What does self-love have to do with how I show up in my home life or at work? Well I say - it is only when we start loving, accepting, and respecting ourselves can we truly embrace who we are. Then, and only then, can we think of being there for others, truly showing up for our team, our children, our family. Here’s a place to start there’s no overnight miracle as I always say - just a co...mbination of small moments and things that will eventually be drawn together and you will feel a change. #selfcare #selflove #selfrespect #personaldevelopment #leadershipdevelopment #awareness #selfawareness #leaders #learners #learning #training #coaching See more

Have you noticed how often we throw around the word ‘’busy’’? Our lives move SO fast and we spend most of our days moving from task to task. But what if we could break free from this cycle of ‘’too busy’’? Here are a few thoughts that may help you: List your priorities. Literally write them down. Every morning. Stick to them. Make sure the list is no more than 4 items. Yes, I know that is hard. ... Learn to say ‘’no’’ - when your priorities are clear, it’s easier to know when you want to say yes and when you need to say no. Setting boundaries is the best way to create space for what you want in your life. Try to stop talking about being busy - when we repeat that word, because it has somewhat of a negative connotation, it sets the tone for telling our brain ‘’you are overwhelmed’’. Try talking about what you’re excited to accomplish today instead. Stop trying to do 3 things at a time on your ‘’time off’’ - take time to do one thing at a time, and fully focus on it. This will allow you to be more present. Set aside time for literal ‘’white noise’’ - time for YOU. Try to take time with no phone, no computer, no TV, just simply you and your thoughts. Maybe exercise, or just relax. Just a little reminder on this Tuesday afternoon that you are amazing and you can do whatever you set your mind to. Remember that success is defined by you and only you. What does success mean to you? What does it look like? How do you measure success in your life? Comparison, fear, insecurity and shame lead us to seek external validation - but when we feel motivated towards our goals and we know what success looks like, it’s easier to use our own internal validation to lead us to our goals. I love this Brené Brown quote because it reminds us what’s really important. At the end of the day we are all imperfect human beings doing our best. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is just show up, be yourself, be real, be raw, be you. How many of us show up? It’s so hard to truly and genuinely show up and let our armour down. Showing up is our greatest power and it is contagious. Showing up even if we’re scared, even if our work is imperfect, even if we make mistakes,... even if we fail, even if we do care about others opinions, even if we fail again...we get up, we help each other, we ask for help, we continue making mistakes because that’s how we learn. Happy monday everybody. You deserve to show up for yourself- I believe in you. These are a few ideas that will help you build better relationships and feel more connected to those around you through empathetic listening.

One of my biggest takeaways in the past month: Empathy fuels connection, and sympathy drives disconnection. . . . Here is a reminder of what is the difference between empathy and sympathy. ... We often confuse empathy and sympathy. The main difference is that empathy involved vulnerability and using your head and your heart - really putting yourself in the other person’s shoes without judging or using your own lense as a filter. It also means listening without the intent to fix or to bring things back to your own experience. Sympathy can be coming from a good place with great intentions, but in the end it may create disconnection. This is a huge learning for me as someone who constantly looks for solutions. I find that the more I listen and practice empathy the more I feel connected to others. Brené Brown explains it best: Rarely can a response make something better. What makes something better is connection. . . . #empathy #sympathy #brenebrown #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #learning #personaldevelopment #professionaldevelopment #coaching #coach

This quote reminds us that what determines who we are is within - as we look inwards, we uncover parts of ourselves we weren’t paying attention to. We discover our fears and our flaws, but we also discover our power, our inner beauty and strength. We discover ourselves. Who we are does not depend on what others say about us or how they perceive us, or what we own, or how pretty or handsome we are. There’s so much to discover if we stop and notice. You are enough. Are you attending or squandering? This goes for leaders at work and at home, well it applies to all of us. Recently I had a conversation with a potential client who told me I should not use words like emotions or emotional intelligence in their organization as it won’t be received very well. Needless to say I took a deep breath before answering. The time we spend attending to our fears and our feelings allows us to grow. When they remain hidden they take control of our behavi...ours and can lead us into what we call overextension. Through my coaching sessions and workshops, I work with leaders and teams on regaining composure and understanding triggers/fears. Using psychometric tools really help us shine light on these and help us grow. There’s nothing cookie cutter about us humans, so our approach shouldn’t be cookie cutter either. Curious about my work? I would love to chat. Reach out! LC See more

We are all guilty of listening to reply at one time or another. It’s human nature, we have been taught to debate and try to win at a very young age. I personally believe that this win/lose mindset can serve us at times, but most of time it can become harmful to our relationships, our workplace, and even to our relationship with ourself. Learning how to listen with the intent of understanding does not mean we are not giving ourself a voice - it means we respect the other pers...on enough to allow them the space to express themselves, and we also respect ourself enough to want to learn and grow from that conversation. Here are the key differences between both listening styles. If you want to learn more about how to listen to understand, feel free to reach out to me via DM LC . . . . #emotionalintelligence #leadershipdevelopment #leaders #quoteoftheday #motivation #listeningskills #leadership #personaldevelopment #brenebrown #organizationaldevelopment #development #training #quotes #coaching #selfrespect #selfcare #selflove #selfimprovement #seekandfind See more

This quote by Carl Jung is precious. Psychometric tools are the best way to make this come to reality, to begin a journey to self-awareness. The psychometric tool I use which is dedicated to the personality and it’s impacts on others and teams, it is called Lumina Spark. It is often the first Spark of self-awareness in a long dark tunnel. I’ll use my mentor’s words to explain what Lumina Spark is: We have the privilege of showing you that you actually have three personaliti...es. Your Underlying self based on your preferences, your Everyday self based on your behaviours, and your Overextended self based on your stressed behaviours. The self that we are least aware of is our Overextended self. We call this the instinctual survival cavewoman or caveman, trying to survive at all costs. We bring this aspect of you to your awareness, like a spark of light, and then we show you how to regain composure so you do not engage in career or relationship limiting moves. We are all works in progress. You may like to give it a try! DM me if you want to know more. #personality #selfawareness #luminaspark #psychometrics

Self-trust is a topic I’d like to explore because it touches every single one of us, and it’s a vital part of living a happy fulfilling life. In short, you build self-trust just like you build trust in any relationship. Here are a few ways you can build your self-trust. You regularly communicate with yourself, lean into solving your own problems, take good care of yourself, and many other amazing habits mentioned on this picture. . . A way that prevents us from building trust... with ourselves is self-abandonment. Self-abandonment is basically making life choices that are in direct opposition to your personal values, and choosing others instead of yourself. . . These are a few ideas that will help you, and I say just do as many of these things as often as possible, and let it grow with time. There is no one-size-fits-all, perfect solution that will help you build self-trust overnight - it is often done over time, through small actions. . . . . #trust #selftrust #selfcare #selfrespect #loveyourself #personaldevelopment #professionaldevelopment #selfhealing #selfhealers #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #emotionalintelligence See more

This is a reminder to question your inner critic. We criticize ourself consciously and unconsciously, it’s sometimes even so deep within us that our self-talk is often criticism. that’s ugly,, come on you can do better than that, what’s wrong with you!. Ring a bell? Certainly does for me. This is a call to action: challenge your inner critic. Notice your self talk. Is this really how I feel about myself or is this just my inner critic talking? Try approving of yourself,... encouraging yourself and break the cycle. Positive self-talk. . . . . #quotes #quotestoliveby See more
