Share the Warmth Winter Clothing Drive Through November our warm-hearted community donated over 100 jackets serving approximately 40 individuals in need. An even greater number of hats and mitts were collected and distributed. The quality of items was jaw dropping! Many appeared nearly new. One busy and generous lady made dozens of beautiful hand-knit hat & mitt sets with yarn donated through the Food Bank. Some of the remaining items moved to the Arena to compliment their... free offerings of skates & hockey equipment, while the rest were donated to a neighbouring school whose winter clothing campaign was just starting as ours was ending (great timing!). Thank you to Manitoba Made for being a donation drop-off spot and the many Lion volunteers who transported, sorted and displayed items as well as attended to those in need from our 'free clothing' store space kindly donated by the LdB Community Centre. Lions Club of Lac du Bonnet Canada Day Weekend 2021 Event Planning Update April 8, 2021 The Lions Club of Lac du Bonnet can not confirm or cancel the 2021 Fireworks, Wonder Shows, or Parade scheduled for July 2 -4 until we have a clear vision of what the future holds. As we work towards a safe return of our Signature Canada Day Weekend Celebration, we are still faced with continued uncertainty. At this time, we are focusing all our efforts on planning the best weekend of ac...tivities we can under the circumstances to ensure the health and safety of all our community and visitors. We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause but hope you understand. Thank you for your support and patience. A message from Lion Leslie, Club President I'm very proud of our clubs' efforts this past year, especially considering the restrictions we all faced. Recently, we phoned over 400 seniors that we'd normally see at our Senior's Dinner. Realizing these COVID times have been hugely difficult for those already struggling - we doubled our annual donation to the Christmas Hamper Committee. In the fall, a creative & fun contactless food drive was held for the Food Bank (watch for a ...repeat early next year). We also asked the community to identify humanitarian needs, resulting in a list of service opportunities for our focus next year. Our club is anxious to get back to actively serving the community - with your help. We are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, but with even more ordinary people, we'll be able to do truly spectacular things! All the best in 2021. See more
