The clergy of Leeds Anglican Ministries participated in an online Clergy Day retreat for the Diocese of Ontario earlier today. We were delighted to listen to our Primate, Archbishop Linda Nicholls, focussing on the theme Surprised by Hope. One of the fruits of our discussions was learning about Archbishop Linda's recent article in Ministry Matters on The Gift of a COVID Vaccination. We give thanks for those who have received vaccine doses and continue to pray for speedy, equitable access for all.

Alleluia, Christ is Risen! Our '50 Days of Gratitude' continue, as we set aside time to call to mind what we are grateful for and to offer thanks to God for that. Giving thanks for the gift of baptism, we invite you to frame your season of gratitude around the three baptismal ‘affirmations’ and the six questions of the baptismal covenant. This week our focus is on the third question: Will you proclaim by word and example the good news of God in Christ?... I will, with God’s help. With gratitude, call to mind people who have told and shared the Gospel with you, not just in scripture and words, but by how they’ve treated you. Don’t forget to give thanks for the ways you’ve been enabled to do this yourself! You can find the full resource here: https://leedsanglicanministries.weebly.com//50_days_of_gra See more

We hope you can join us for Evening Prayer tonight at 7 p.m. live here on Facebook. Tonight we commemorate Teresa of Avila whom we remember on October 15th. Teresa of Avila was a 16th century spiritual teacher and a prolific writer. One of her famous poems is Nada te turbe, which has been adapted as a Taize hymn (linked below): Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing make you afraid. All things are passing.... God alone never changes. Patience gains all things. If you have God you will want for nothing. God alone suffices. The readings for tonight are 1 Kings 19: 4 - 13, Psalm 66: 7 - 11, and John 14:1-11. The order of service can be found at this link: https://leedsanglicanministries.weebly.com//evening_prayer

With apologies to anyone who got a crick in the neck from the previously posted version, which was somehow rotated sideways, here is the 'upright' version.

Leeds Anglican Ministries 30.06.2020

Apparently things literally went sideways in Morning Prayer! We've edited to create a right-side-up version and have posted it. The original is removed, with apologies to everyone whose comments there were deleted with that.

Today is World Mental Health Day. In the midst of this pandemic we have become more acutely aware of how vulnerable we all can be, how much our circumstances can impact us, how many people live with mental health conditions, how complex our griefs and anxieties can be, and how tenuous our support systems for mental health are. The goal of this day in 2020 is much-needed investment in mental health. Loving God, we pray today for those who are confronted by the sadness, ambigu...ity and confusion of mental illness, and for those upon whom they depend for attention and compassionate care. Look with mercy on all whose afflictions bring them weakness, distress, confusion or isolation. Provide for them homes of dignity and peace; give to them understanding helpers and the willingness to accept help. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
