If you need to speak with someone, reach out to a friend, a mental health professional, or the Island Helpline. For the Island Helpline, call 1-800-218-2885. Should I take legal action? We hear this question a lot. Before you decide to take legal action, think about Dispute Resolution. Dispute Resolution is a word for the different ways people can resolve conflicts out of court. Dispute Resolution sometimes has better results than going to court and is often much less expensive. Options include negotiation, mediation, and collaborative practice. Note that negotiation and mediation may not be appropriate if there is a power imbal...ance or violence in the relationship.
