Here's our newest LEoPARD cub Logan working hard on our first #FunctionalFriday of the semester. Colorado Mesa University #cmesau #research #students
LEoPARD would like to offer a heartfelt Happy July 4th to its American neighbours and hosts! As an undergraduate-focused research group housed at Colorado Mesa University, led by a Canadian principal investigator (Dr. Dieni), it is most evident on days such as July 1st and July 4th how strongly symbiotic our relationship actually is. Enjoy your day, friends in the USA!
The day's almost over, and I'd be remiss if I let it end without commemorating the day. So, from Dr. Chris Dieni and LEoPARD, Happy Canada Day! #CanadaDay #CanadaDay2020 #Canada #Canadian #CanadianInColorado #CanadianInGrandJunction #GrandJunction #CMesaU Colorado Mesa University

You're an undergraduate STEM major at Colorado Mesa University, and you're looking for some research experience. You have interests in biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, health, disease, and the broader world of the biomolecular sciences. If this sounds like you, think about applying for student-researcher opportunities at Lab for Evaluation of Pharmacological Agents in Remediation of Disease. Opportunities for student-researchers will be available upon return to campus ...-- which will hopefully be sooner rather than later. Express your interest now and move to the front of the line -- better to express your intent sooner rather than later, as opportunities may be limited. https://leopard-online.ca/2020/05/18/apply-to-leopard-today/ #colorado #coloradomesa #coloradomesauniversity #cmesau #research #researcher #undergraduate #undergrad #science #stem #academia #academicresearch #academic #university #biochemistry #pharmacology #insulin #insulinsignaling #insulinresistance #diabetes #type2diabetes #type2diabetesmellitus #td2m See more

We were beginning to make some interesting research progress in the Spring 2020 semester, when our research -- much like the rest of the world -- was shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since spring break -- the week of March 15th -- we have not been able to get into the lab to work on our research. We now have a small glimmer of hope on the horizon: last week, [ 98 more words ] http://leopard-online.ca/2020/05/18/apply-to-leopard-today/
Thanks so much to Suzy Scientist for this. In a case series that included 5700 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the New York City area, the most common comorbidities were hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. Never has it been clearer that novel insulin-sensitizing agents must be discovered and characterized.
