Shoutout to Wes who has been working hard at getting the driveway drainage figured out Wes Side

Took a visit to Ray’s Town today about .5 km into the trail. The first time Scott, Taylr and I came to Ray’s Place we stayed here with our friends and their kids on May 24 weekend. It was a rainy muddy weekend that was definitely memorable! For those looking for a more adventurous stay, each bunkie has a bunk bed and wood stove for heat. There’s a communal fire pit and an outhouse... B.Y.O.Bedding Call for details 705-286-2152 See more

Hey everyone! Moving day is finally here and we just wanted to give everyone the heads up that we are doing our best to respond to emails and phone calls to book everyone in on top of unpacking, cleaning up and getting set up but we ask for some grace at this time. Please leave a message on the answering machine and we will get back to you as soon as we can! Also we will not have an debit/credit machine up and running until sometime next week - hopefully. In the meantime we are accepting cash and e-transfers. Thank you all for your patience, we look forward to meeting you all and we will be organizing a meet and greet very soon! Happy Trails!

'Let's Go to Ray's Place' 'We are at Ray's Place' 'I'm going to Ray's Place this weekend' Hi all. Ray here. The name Ray's Place is something we've used internally, along with the 4WD community for quite some time now, the first use of the name probably spanning two years now. Since then, a lot has changed within the community and on the property, all for the better for both you and I.... We here figured, with all the change and direction that we wanted to take the South Wind, that a rebranding and name change would be the most appropriate. This way, it would help to signify the next stage in our 4WD resort journey, and also play with the idea I've had in quite a while with making Ray's Place (which is reminiscent of my previously owned Ray's Pizza in Haliburton) more than just a catchy saying. Here's what I'm thinking. The South Wind is the establishment prior to my taking ownership of it with the family; before the expansion of trails, the creation of the Bunkie area (which as deemed by my odd humour, is titled Ray's Town!) and before the establishment of various promotions, events, and newly created group events like TMR, Veterans Trail Run, and Nissan Canada, and many Newbie Runs for various Jeep groups. Many have seen this coming, talked about it and even questioned when the transition would occur. Even new-comers to the place noticed that we had teased the new logo and name for the past year or so on our Staff t-shirts on purpose! There's been much debate as to when would be the best time to make the transition, and with that to begin the process of moving quite a bit of our offerings to the new system so that it could be accessible to you sooner than later. I figured this would be the best time to make it official, since more and more print marketing, stickers and various technologies are being released with the new branding on it. The tools which include a modern website, much more interactive and useful are coming down the pipeline, but this rebranding and name change has been one of the most exciting items that I have been looking forward to sharing with you. With Ray's Place, we're aiming to expand the offerings and opportunities for you and your family and friends. For those who read, comment, like, and show their support in any way, thank you for the continued support.

Hi all. Ray here. For those who've seen me give speeches during events, you know I'm absolutely terrible at this so I'm getting R3 (even more than I normally do) to help me write this. Firstly, I can't empathize enough how much I appreciate the kind words from the previous few posts. Knowing that my work has made an impact for the better in some of your stories really warms my heart and reassures that the long days were worth it. I won't lie either, apart of me is going to ...miss seeing the broken axles, damaged headlights and various other monstrosities coming out of the trails, because I knew that you had a great story of what happened. And share around the campfire you did! I can only imagine the stories Scott and Kate-lynn will have for me as I check in throughout the weeks and months, and how their first summer experience truly explains all that I built here with the communities support since the days of South Wind Motel [remember those days?]. With all the ambitions and ideas I've heard come from the soon-to-be owners, I know that Ray's Place is in the best hands it could be. I'll sleep well at night knowing that, and that my call display works! Bye all, I'll always be close by and supporting from the sidelines. Rayzor

Ray's Place 29.09.2020

Hi all. Ray here. Damn, I've been saying that quite often over the past six years. As you know, Ray's Place has been for sale for just over a year now. Though I want to move on with my life and focus on the family / relaxing phase of my years, I didn't want just anyone to take over; I wanted someone who has the spirit and commitment of the seasoned off-roader, the energy to "get’er done", and the wanting to expand and improve the offerings that a business such as this one co...uld offer. Well, by complete chance the exact candidates I was looking for were already well acquainted with the property, and regular off-roaders! After many discussions, I’m proud to introduce Scott and Kate-Lynn, who will be taking the reigns at the end of October. The energy and ambitions that they have leaves me confident in the future of Rays Place, and I look forward to following along. Till then, you’ll still see my face as you pull into the property and hear my voice on the answering machine; so don’t go missing razor just yet!

Hi all. Ray here. The last TMR Racing Series event of 2020 at Ray’s Place has concluded, and I think it was the most challenging yet! I’d like to sincerely thank Todd Folks (Solo Jeeper) for coordinating, organizing, and ensuring that we followed all safety precautions. I found it interesting to see which obstacles each vehicle tier struggled with, the common being mud. Damn was there mud. This was also the first chance that Val and Layla had to see some of the trails and what everyone loves about them. After seeing the first Jeep rush past her, Val exclaimed I need to get a Jeep. We couldn’t help but notice her glee, grin and amazement as she spectated. I think this snippet sums it up best.

Hey guys, Kate here Thank you all for the warm welcome! Scott, Taylr and I are looking forward to this new adventure and are excited to meet and get to know you all

Ray's Place 06.09.2020

Hi all. Ray here. I thought this would be of interest to anyone here for the TMR race weekend. On Sunday, September 27, hydro will be out for Minden from 7am to 3pm. This means no water or electric heat. https://www.myhaliburtonnow.com//minden-and-surrounding-a/

Ray's Place 21.08.2020

Hi all. Ray here. With the recent restrictions that have been applied to Ontario gatherings I wanted to reassure that Todd has confirmed this sporting event will continue on with the necessary precautions in place. With that, this is a reminder for those who aren't aware: the trails will be closed Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th this week to ensure the safety of the participants and public. Furthermore, the office will be closed 9-5 on the Saturday with an event tent s...etup in front of the event's entrance for those who need assistance. Lastly, in compliance with recent COVID safety procedures, all who are on the property must register at the entrance. Those who did not pre-purchase tickets will not be allowed in (this implies no drop-ins). Looking forward to the event, and hope everyone is staying safe. Credit to ehmedia.ca for the video!

Hi all. Ray here! Today's the day that's been in the works for the past two months, and we're so excited to announce the official opening of Val's Soul Food available on the property as of tomorrow, August 1st. For those who haven't stopped by to sample some of Val's cooking, let me explain some of what you have to look forward to: - A breakfast sandwich that really gets the day started right... - The best damn curry chicken in all of Minden - Four kinds of samosas, delicious and loved by all who try it - Roast beef on a bun, the ultimate comfort sandwich Val and Layla have been working day in and out getting the food truck ready for their big opening, and I couldn't be prouder of the culture and offerings they've bringing to the off-roading community. For those curious to see their full menu and hours, have a look here: https://rayzplace.ca/food. Be sure to try the Samosas and beef on a bun!

Ray's Place 23.06.2020

Hi all. Ray here. It's come to light that you guys are excited as hell to come off roading and camping, and even-more so the demand for the place is exceeding far more than I could have ever thought possible during these strange times! With that, I just want to iterate that there is quite a bit of additional stress that's put onto the staff and myself due to COVID and us ensuring plans go on as expected. So, in efforts to ensure none of us burn out, we'll be neglecting email...s and phones as they directly come in and instead respond within a business day or two when appropriate. No need to ask if our phones are working, they are along with the robust answering machine that some are used to. With us internally christening this summer as "Ray's Zoo", I appreciate the patience for those who know to leave a message and expect my callback within the day or two. For those looking to book, leave a message via our website rayzplace.ca/accomodations or via our phone line rayzplace.ca/about and we'll get back to you when the chance arrives.

Hi all. Ray here. Great news. The fire ban has been lifted. Minden Hills, July 17, 2020 - The current risk of wildfire has reduced within our Township. The rain over the last few days has reduced the wildfire risk. All burn permits issued within the Township of Minden Hills are reinstated and new permits will be issued. https://mindenhills.ca/media-release-20-42-fire-ban-lifted/

Ray's Place 31.05.2020

Just a reminder to all who didn’t know, while riding on the property, or partaking in trail riding, helmets are required. Anyone riding an ATV without one will be warned firstly, and kicked from the property if failing to comply. This is the same laws found on the public trails, which like any commercial property can be visited by patrol or OPP at any time. It’s all apart of the trail system and we must ensure the safety of all. Let’s not even get started with the night riding rules.

Ray's Place 11.05.2020

Hi all. Ray here. Not so good news. I think we all saw coming. A 100% fire ban is now in effect, meaning no burning at any time of day or night is allowed. When it is lifted I’ll let you know. ... More info can be found here: http://www.haliburtonecho.ca/haliburton-county-fire-ban

Ray's Place 28.04.2020

Hi all. Ray here. We've been seeing a few questions around the upcoming Mayhem in Minden event that's set for July 11th, so Todd figured it would be best answered here. Firstly, the trails will be closed for public use on the 11th, along with the 12th. Any vehicle spotted on the trails which are not apart of the Mayhem in Minden event will be kicked from the property promptly. Secondly, to reduce the amount of bodies and exposure, no spectators are allowed outside of racers, ...their immediate family or guests who are camping or staying at Ray's Place for the weekend. This is for the safety of all in the area, and appreciate your understanding with this. And as always, We'd like to thank Todd (SoloJeeper) for organizing the TMR events and continuing to follow the ongoing health news to ensure that the events proceed in the safest manner possible. More information can be found on the TMR event site: http://www.tmrraceseries.com/

Hi all. Ray here. First, Valarie wanted to say thanks for all the support and those interested in trying her cooking. It’s coming along great, and one benefit of being here is getting to taste test her signature roast beef, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I think Wes is going to love working here this summer

Ray's Place 05.04.2020

Hi all. Ray here. Recently, I've had the privilege of meeting and working with Valarie on the next evolutionary offering at Ray's Place, running a food truck specializing in 100% home-made comfort/soul food. Her ideas, menu and care for the art have me absolutely inspired! We can't wait to tell you more details as we get closer to opening the food truck to all. With that, I'd like to thank Todd Folks (Solo Jeeper), Austin Guy, and the many others who were here this past weekend and had the chance to taste test some of her awesome cooking and providing feedback on their favorites! The roast beef sandwiches are some of the SoloJeeper's favorites, and I can't wait for you to try them as well.

Hi all. Ray here. You asked, and finally we have an answer based on Friday's opening of the rooms here. Are the campsites open? Well, all weekend we've had to say "no" at least a hundred times over Facebook, Email and the phone. As of today, for those who haven't heard yet (because my goodness you're sending the links here in waves, loving the support!), campsites will officially be available to stay on as of June 12th! That means for all those who had booked campsites in Jun...e and onward that hadn't cancelled yet, your booking will be honored. For those who had the chance to stop by this past weekend to show their support, play on some trails and enjoy campfires, I'd like to thank you for making the semi-reopening announcement on Friday a great weekend kickoff! For those who haven't yet called to arrange a weekend out of the housew, who wants to go camping? More information can be found here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/reopening-ontario

Ray's Place 19.02.2020

Hi all. Ray here. I wanted to share some fantastic news during these isolated times, news that I believe doesn't compare to what's occurring in the States, but instead is a much needed pick-me-up for the off-roading enthusiasts. Officially, I am able to offer accommodations to ALL starting tomorrow for the Rooms, and RVs! That means for those interested in getting away for the weekend, my phone line is finally open and saying "first come, first serve". Of course, with that th...e following rules must be enforced for the greater safety of everyone: - No more than FIVE people per gathering / group. - Maintain safe social DISTANCING with those you don't live with. - The public bathrooms will remain CLOSED. - All Campsites and Pull Thru's will remain CLOSED. - Cleaning staff CANNOT touch your rooms, for their own safety a room cannot be cleaned within twenty four hours of your departure. Though we here are trying to get more information and an official link, the following memo which was provided by the Pine Ridge District Health Unit indicates the changed regulations as of this Friday (June 5, 2020). "Motels Opening: messaging being circulated Section 13: Hotels/Motels are not restricted in the clients they can rent accommodations to (i.e. they are permitted to rent to vacationers, not strictly essential workers). As was provided to the Hotel/Motel Industry, the local health units are available to provide support and relevant guidance to local resorts on strategies to comply with the required public health measures." So, if you're looking for weekend plans; give me a call. Looking forward to seeing you! PS. Website to be updated, as always you here on Facebook know first! Contact information can be found here: https://rayzplace.ca/about

Hi all. Ray here. Ontario is getting closer to what we used to call summer camping! Camping on crown land will be allowed starting June 1. More details on this can be found on the link below. This does not allow me to open my campground at the time, but it is a move in the right direction. https://news.ontario.ca//backcountry-camping-available-at-

Ray's Place 27.01.2020

Hi all. Ray here. A pretty fantastic little update for those who are looking to go for a spin! I've gotten confirmation from the Federal government that day rides are possible with the following rules: - Max five people per group (both on ATV and Jeep).... - All riders and drivers must practice safe distancing when outside of their vehicles - This is only possible for day rides, the accommodations on the property are still not available during this time. If you wish to plan your adventure please give me a call (number found here https://rayzplace.ca/about) as I need to track numbers of who's interested and around. Also, there is a 30 minute start time for all from 7 am till 7 pm. So, who wants to stop by and shred some trails?

Ray's Place 24.01.2020

Hi all. Ray here. So I've missed you all so much, and decided hey, when this is all over, I want to make sure all who swing by and visit can have a great (and safely-distanced) get together! That's why I've ensured the most recent fire inspection which occurred today went off without a hitch. This means that when things lighten up, you and your family won't have to wait till 7PM to start your campfires. It's the little things, ya know? Did I mention that I miss your antics?

Ray's Place 04.01.2020

Hi all. Ray here. I want to apologize for getting your hopes up, and would like to thank all those who went through to clarify any confusion in the comments. It appears that we here jumped the gun, being too excited to understand the announcement fully. Ray's Place will be open only to seasonals who need to access their trailers this weekend. More details can be found on the official statement: https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-announces-additional-work Still looking forward to seeing you all when this is stable and safe!
