It's amazing how one word can paint a picture in your mind. Who wouldn't love a snuggery? Possibly my favourite word right now. On a side note...has anyone made one of these handknit blankets?

I randomly yell out words when I find the perfect one I've been looking for. I sometimes take a bath in the middle of the day because that's where my best ideas happen. Do you have a weird work habit? Talk to yourself out loud? Always set your desk up a certain way? ... Come on...you know you wanna share it

Great design brings creativity and mechanics together. (Throwback to my floral career). The prettiest bouquets will fall apart if proper mechanics aren't in place. Instead of bridal bouquets, now I'm crafting website words, and the rule still applies. ... A creative, clever story falls flat without a solid knowledge of your audience, persuasive writing, and strategic copywriting. Because when it comes to your website, pretty words mean nothing if they don't sell. Is your website selling for you? If you're unsure about your messaging, I'm offering copy audits. Because we all want a killer online presence with words that sell! Shoot me a DM to chat copy. P.S. The softest pink peonies and ranunculus in this bouquet are my favourite! I loved using them for this shoot. Do you have a fav flower?

Can you sum up in one sentence the main problem your business solves for your clients? If not....here are 3 formulas to get you started. 1) I help________________________ achieve/create/improve ___________________ so they can _____________________. ... eg. I help families looking for natural solutions discover the power of essential oils so they can cut harsh chemicals out of their lives. 2) The problem The solution The reward eg. Don't let your business get lost in the sea of noise. I help you create a killer online presence with copy and content that stands out, speaks up, and attracts your ideal clients. 3) I help (target market) solve (the problem) because (the why). eg. I help new parents learn gentle sleep training methods because you can't function on 4 hours of broken sleep! If you have a one-liner, I’d love to hear it. When you don't know what to say, a little empathy goes a long way. A few statements that display empathy: 1) That must be so difficult for you. ... 2) I'm so sorry this is happening to you. 3) What do you need right now? 4) What I am hearing is _________. Am I correct? 5) I have your back. I am here for you. P.S. If you’re reading this, I have your back. I am here for you. See more

Today I am savoring life, being present and thankful for the small things. (At least, I’m trying....). I read an article last night that suggests ways to slow down, pause, and notice the beauty around you. To sum it up: 1) Build breaks into your day where you take a moment and slow down(a cup of coffee, a short walk). It gives you something to look forward to. ... 2) Pause throughout the day and notice the things around you that make you smile(that’s a pic of my coasters). 3) Minimize multi-tasking because savoring life requires your full attention! I shall do my best! Do you incorporate anything in your day that forces you to pause and look around?

To improve your readability score: ... 1) Shorten your sentences. 2) Use simple words (idea instead of concept, small instead of minuscule) 3) Keep your paragraphs short. (Around 4-5 sentences) 4) Use headings and subheads. To measure the readability of your website, check out this handy tool: https://www.webfx.com/tools/read-able/flesch-kincaid.html

Are you nurturing your website? You wouldnt plant a seed and walk away expecting it to grow, right? All the conditions need to be in place for it flourish. Well the same idea goes for your website. Think of it as a living thing that needs some TLC. (Sorry for the cheezy metaphor, but what do you expect from a florist turned copywriter?) ... If its been awhile since youve tended to your site, here are a few suggestions for quick updates: Refresh headlines. Make sure they demonstrate a benefit. Bonus points if you can get a keyword in there. Scope your about page. Its usually one of the most read pages on a website. Does it tell your story while answering your customers question of Whats in it for me? And are there current images of you? Update testimonials. Add in new ones, and if you havent already, sprinkle them throughout your site. Test all links to make sure they are working. (Nothing to do with copywriting, just a pet peeve). Strengthen calls to action. You want them to stand out and be easy to find. Clear, descriptive CTAs getter better click through rates than vague, general descriptions. Anyone else feeling a bit uninspired lately? During times of high stress were generally less creative. (And Id say were all in a time of high stress). It would be great if we could only work when we felt inspired, but you know....deadlines! Ive worked in two creative fields(copywriting and floral design) and over the years I have learned a few things about getting unstuck. If youre feeling uninspired...... 1) Change your scenery. Can you find a different workspace? 2) Take a break. Sounds counter productive, but its hard to be creative when were stressed. 3) Shift your mindset. Find something about the project that youre excited about or think about why you love your business. Shift your thoughts to I get to rather than I have to. 4) Move your body. Exercise can boost creativity. 5) Do something fun for a few minutes that requires problem solving or a creative mindset. 6) Brainstorm. Think about all the different ways you could tackle the project. Write down all your ideas without censoring yourself. 7) Sleep on it (If your deadline allows). Ask your brain for help before you sleep, and it will continue to work while you rest. (Thanks Karen Baring for this tip!) What works for you when youre feeling stuck? See more

Whats copy? Whats content? And what is the purpose of each one? We often hear these two words used interchangeably, but there are slight differences. (Word nerd alert!) Copy is written material used for marketing and promotional purposes. Its main job is to inspire action. Examples of copy: websites, landing pages, flyers, brochures. ... Content is information used to inspire, educate or entertain. Its main job is to build awareness and loyalty, make connections, and generate leads. While content doesnt necessarily ask for the sale, it shows readers how your product/service can help them by answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing proof. Examples of content: blog posts, videos, social media posts, infographics This certainly is not a full breakdown of the differences between the two. (I find the nuances fascinating but I know you may not get quite as excited about words as I do..) Both have a job to do and a strategy behind them. They work hand in hand to help you connect with the people who would benefit from your products or services.
