If you are looking for something fun and socially distanced to do here’s a handy list of houses in Kamloops with exceptional decorations
Sending warm & happy holiday wishes from all of us at Lighthouse Therapy to you and yours It’s certainly different this year and we wish you comfort, ease, and moments of joy and fun amidst it all
What a sweet little orchestra.
It seems like everyone, all of us, are struggling in some extraordinary ways these days. This pandemic has created a way of life we have not experienced before. There are many uncertainties and unknowns. It's often confusing and disappointing. Lighthouse is presently able to welcome youth and adults in for counselling support. We are gathering a waitlist for child therapy sessions as our two play therapists have full weekly schedules. Would online groups for support ...be helpful? For parents? For supporting anxiety? For general support and connection? For front line workers and essential services? Feel free to private message or comment here with thoughts and ideas. When the first shutdown began we were surrounded by messages of support and encouragement for self care, hearts and rainbows in windows, and painted rocks in communities. Things may be more challenging now than then. How can we help? How can we offer support to one another?
As new recommendations were made by our Public Health Officer Lighthouse is responding by increasing our meaures to protect our clients and therapists. In some cases sessions are moving to online platforms in other cases there are in-person sessions with safety precautions in place. Therapist's will be in contact before you attend. Life is hard. And weird. And there is a collective nervousness, fear, and even trauma response rising. Take care of yourself and each other.
How are you? Really? Is it possible that we have gotten a little used to this weirdness? Let's remember we are still living through a time that is challenging in many ways for human wellness. There's a lack of connection, socialization, travel & adventure, family time, financial & economic stability, music shows, exciting things to look forward to, hugs. Ugh. Remember random hugs? Not feeling awkward when you get a tickle in your throat and have to cough in public? I was just thinking about how life is still hard and weird and wanted to check in and send some warmth. #worldmentalhealthday
Our Rachael Pasemko received a new designation. Registerd Play Therapist Supervisor. This means that hours play therapists spend with her doing supervision will count toward their own Registered Play Therapist designation. Stay tuned for group supervision :)
Lighthouse therapist, Rachael Pasemko, is offering a lovely workshop for women in mid-October. It's a mixture of a women's circle, an art class, a meditation, and a somatic therapy session ... she is creating a pocket of ease and safety for a small group of women to connect to themselves, their inner knowing, and each other. Social distancing guidelines are being followed .... the group will be well connected at a safe distance in the beautiful surroundings of St. Andrew's... on the Square. See this event posting for details and contact Rachael directly with questions or to register. https://www.facebook.com/events/631650820868326
We are thinking about all the children and families navigating back to school at this time. Life is hard. Pandemic life is harder. And, weirder. Take deep breaths as there may be big emotions!
Check out this sweet online sand tray therapy website. Digitally create a world in the sand. What a great idea for these times when so much of connection is on the computer. https://onlinesandtray.com
Synergetic Play Therapy is one if the approaches we use in therapy sessions at Lighthouse. These are the basic tenets of the work.
Great Reminder . .
We are so pleased to share some good news. The wonderful Vicki Farnell has joined the team at Lighthouse. Vicki has many years of experience supporting children and parents and now brings her warmth and skill to private practice. Please read more about her and her approach at https://www.lighthousetherapy.info/vicki-farnell. Welcome, Vicki
I’m not joking. When folks ask where to find our office at this time of year. I tell them it’s 615 but also tell them it’s the little house behind all the trees . I get so much pleasure from our gardens but I also wonder when the neighbors might start to complain and request we scale this wonderland back a little!
Online sessions are continuing but, as of last week, Lighthouse doors are also open, with sanitized knobs, and chairs a little further apart. We support children, using play therapy, offer sessions with youth and adults, facilitate workshops, and can provide parent support and coaching. Did you know we also do outdoor walking sessions? (When it’s not raining ) Life is hard. Let us help.
As we have been in isolation and as we start open up things are hard, and weird, and tender. It's ok if this was the best time of your life and ok if it was the worst or anywhere in between and even both. We each have different circumstances and experiences but are moving through a collective trauma and that means we should all go easy on ourselves and eachother.
Welcome. The Lighthouse yard is in bloom We have a plan in place to cautiously return to meeting in person. If you want to come and see us, please get in touch. If online feels right for you, that’s great, because we are continuing that too . Things can feel tricky right now. Go easy.
It’s not the sound on your device ... the office is really this silent. We miss our people. The coming and going and chatting and playing. Our community. We hope you are keeping well and if you need support please reach out
