Matt wanted a quick detachable mount for his tractor. He brought over the tractor and attachments he was going to use and I got to work. The bucket fit the tractor, we used it for reference. Some quick measurements, a drawing in CAD and couple short pieces of tubing, welded together and this is the result. He also needed to be able to attach the forks. Cut off the old brackets, made some new ones to fit the quick release. Thanks for the work Matt, this should make swapping attachments a lot easier.
Fabricated a new piece of equipment in house for the shop. Wanted a press brake for a while now to be able to bend some heavier stuff. Been gathering parts for a while. Finally got a chance to put it together. It a 5'- 50 ton unit. It's not CNC, or made to do production repeat runs, but for one of and custom pieces, it works just dandy.
My old website was due for an update. With a couple of days off I started pecking away at the keyboard and redid the whole thing. It's even mobile friendly. So go ahead and click "www.lightspeedmetaldesign.com" and let me know what you think.
Couple more recently made signs. The customers brought me a couple of rough sketched ideas and I went from there to create these. The Desert Roots sign was painted as requested. I made loops at the top so the customer could hang it. The other 2 I welded stakes to so they could be put into a garden and left unfinished get some natural color on them.
A couple recently done signs. One for a customer and the other as a tribute to my nephew who passed this year.
The Odessa Horse & Pony Club asked me again this year for a donation for their silent auction and raffle to raise funds for the club. I did something a little more western themed this time.
I hate throwing anything away that's got a cool feel to it. I usually stash it away until I get a creative vibe going. Some motorcycle foot pegs and headlight, piston out of highway tractor, and some small bits of aluminum sheet left from a job. Put them all together and a lamp appears. Not sure if I want to keep it for the shop or sell it. If some one wants to own it, private message me an offer.
We had a request to replicate some trunk hinge arms in 1" square tube. The ones given to copy were a poorly done reproduction. We wanted get it right. Unfortunately the first set of dies we had didn't have a tight enough radius. Made another set with a 3" radius and they worked perfectly.
We have some new tube bender dies to do 1" square tube in addition to the 1" and 1.5" round tube bending we all ready do.
Local business needed some aluminum enclosure boxes for electrical equipment. We one upped the box and cut the name into the lid for them. This is the smaller box, have some larger ones to make up too.
A customer was looking for a stage coach sign for his stable. We had one that was whole western scene, he wanted just the horses and stage coach so modified the drawing a little. Over all it's about 60" long and 18" tall. Sent it out to be powder coated and it came back looking fantastic.
This is a picture of our shop truck at the Syracuse Nationals last year. The trophy on the hood was for "Dirty Dozen" award in the Old School round up
