Hey Friendors!! We are at it again!! I received a message at midnight last night from someone who said ‘I hear you work miracles, so I thought no harm in reaching out....’ Here’s the story... Josh (36yrs) has 3 kids and is engaged. He was supposed to get married in 2020 but covid hit... He has stage 4 stomach cancer. The tumour just burst and he’s been given a week (or so)to live. The message was from his cousin asking if I could work some magic and try to give them a wedd...ing like what we did for Donnie and Kandy.. He has very little time left so we are planning for this Monday at 2pm. We still need a photographer, a videographer, and an officiant... The whole tradition behind the wedding garter dates back to the Dark Ages, where it was considered good luck to take home a piece of the bride's clothing. Family and guests at the wedding would accompany the newlyweds to the bedroom to ensure that they arrived safely, and would try to rip the bride’s dress to keep a ‘lucky’ piece of it for themselves. This tradition soon turned into wearing and then removing a garter, in order to protect the bride from over-enthusiastic participants in the wedding party. OH. MY. GOD. I have to tell this story. Marilynn wandered into my studio one day while I was closed. I happened to be vacuuming and she just appeared in front of me and said, ‘Are you Lily? I need a dress!’ Rather abruptly, really. I asked her to elaborate... a custom? alterations? consignment? She told me she had come up for a week from Costa Rica, had exhausted all bridal shops in town, was leaving in six days, and I was her last hope. SIX DAYS? At first I said there’s no w...ay... then we got to chatting about her story... she told me at 76 yrs old she wanted to renew her vows as her husband was very sick. I wanted to make it happen, so I drew her a quick sketch, literally told her what I would design and make, and she agreed. The day before she left, she picked up her wedding gown, and absolutely LOVED it. I just received the pics and I’m looking at lasting love right here. This beauty and I met last year and after a couple of meetings, we nailed down a design for a summer wedding dress. A sleeveless lace dress. Then covid hit, and her wedding was put on hold until 2021, and so her wedding dress was now on hold too. Fast forward to this past August... We all started to realize that 2021 weddings were going to look a lot like 2020 weddings, so she contacted me to say they had decided to elope on their five year anniversary.... Sept 25th. And she... asked if there was any way I could make her the dress in a very short timeline during the middle of wedding season. This meant I had about eight weeks to make her a dress... with sleeves! I worried about the timeframe for about an hour, tried to convince her to choose a new style, and then just decided to take it on. I wanted to make it happen. I managed to get this silk crepe rushed over from the U.K. in three days, and together with a bunch of back to back fittings I pulled it off (I even bought myself a travel sewing machine and worked on it during a week long vacation in Whistler at the beginning of September) I always say how I LOVE seeing photos of my work, and this is why... look at those smiles @evergreenboundfilms See more

Hundreds of masks are heading out the door starting today A huge thank you and shout out to everyone who has brought me elastics and extra fabric, and especially to Pam Bamra for all her help cutting them all out. Update, I was just asked about how they’re constructed.... they are two layer... one thick canvas and another just cotton inside. The inside layer has a pocket for a filter... people are using cut up air and hepa vacuum filters... I’ve even heard of using dried ...out Lysol wipes... They aren’t medical grade, but I mean, anything is better than nothing. The CDC in the US is now just telling doctors and nurses to wear a bandana if there’s nothing else!

Hey lovelies... I just had a phone call from an agency that sends out homecare workers. They are out of face masks and surgical gowns for isolation, are desperately in need, so they asked if I would make them some. The masks will have little pockets inside for filters, and an adjustable elastic so they fit snugly around your face. These are not a replacement for medical grade masks, but the CDC is now telling nurses and doctors to wear bandanas in the US because of the short...ages, so in case we go that way... this is a better alternative I just wanted to put out there that if any nurses or others who are immune compromised need any!
