I’ve wrapped my last family session for 2020! Thank you all for a busy fall season. It’s always such a pleasure meeting new families and an honor to see retuning families and their kiddos growing.

What’s the best age to do family photos? My answer is always every age! I love capturing newborns, toddlers, pre teens and teens and even when your children are grown and home from college! Never a missed opportunity.

It’s snowing here today. Who’s excited?

It’s been a busy fall season of family photos. As a photographer I’m always shooting at different times of day, in different lighting scenarios & different locations. They can all be great! You have to work with what you get with Kootenay weather! It doesn’t always work with little kiddos who nap to get the best light or how obsessive I check the ever changing weather forecast. I have to be able to shoot in any lighting condition. But, that’s where picking the best locatio...n to work with the light is important. Depending on time of day, and lighting conditions. Filtered light through trees on a full mid day sun is beauty. Take those trees away, and full mid day sun may be challenging. Overcast weather is pretty flexible and the time change can make for loosing light so dang early. I like to location scout, check light and be prepared as much as I can be. Can’t control the weather, and often need to roll with what I get....but being prepared always helps. It also means, that sometimes I have that guilty nag of this would have been incredible light if I have a day off.

Walking on Sunshine

How much sage do we need to smudge 2020?! This is an image from a commercial brand session with @kristinditzelacupuncture Business content for your ‘gram can sometimes feel overwhelming. But with a bit of planning and having a photographer (getting the angles and that light right) your images can really pop! My favorite part of this image is that smoke.

One of my fave families! From an engagement session to wedding coverage, newborns and family pictures over the years. Such an honor to capture it all.

Golden hour may really only be golden minutes....but its my favorite. Living in the mountains, it’s never a guarantee so it alway feels extra special. Lovely evening with this family

I love catching candid mama moments Often moms are the ones not in the photos (I know same can be said for dads...depends who is the picture taker in your family). Sometimes the younger years are just so busy...that there aren’t many photos at all. That’s why capturing images like this make me so happy. Moment captured in time.

Life is a series of baby steps ~Hoda Kotb It’s so fun to be able to capture the early days of walking. Seeing how proud babes are taking freshly minted steps. The world is your oyster baby!

Fall photos come with beautiful light & colors. However, what you don’t see are photographers constantly checking the weather forecast leading up to session and crossing fingers that the wind and rain cooperate. We lucked out! Beautiful family, adorable kiddos.

When even the dog is smiling

Every age & every stage. Love getting to capture kids of all ages. I’ve enjoyed seeing these kiddos grow up over the years of doing family photos.

My girl. She hates having her photo taken. It’s rare she suggests us taking a selfie. A part of me wishes that lasts...in this digital crazed world. But I also love getting moments frozen in time. They grow up way too fast. ... So occasionally, she lets me snap a few quick ones. See more

Thankful for an extra family day this weekend!! Life has been too busy lately. My husband reminded me this is what autumn has been like for as long as I’ve been running my photography business. I have so much gratitude for my busy little side business, for my salon days that are full. For a home full of love & the health of all my family. These days are precious....and I’m savoring them.

Every spring for the past decade, I’ve loved capturing the cherry blossom blooms on the tree we planted in our front yard a couple months after we had our daughter. I wish the pretty delicate flowers stayed longer...they make me so happy. I though everyone could use some pink, petals of happy in their feed today! @ Nelson, British Columbia
