Zen Buddhism and Meditation Course beginning in January 25, 2022.
Little Heron Zen Hermitage is situated upon the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit ...First Nation. Today, the City of Hamilton is home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island (North America) and we recognize that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land so that we can better understand our roles as residents, neighbours, partners and caretakers. We stand in solidarity with murdered and missing Indigenous women, girls, transgender and two-spirit people.
Leaving now to deliver the filled backpacks to Helping Hamilton Homeless. So grateful to all the volunteers who filled a backpack.
Tonight at 7 p.m. I will be meditating with the focus on healing the world of war and disease of the mind and body. These wars and diseases can be external or ...internal. I invite you to join me, in your homes so that we may sit together. Please do whatever practice you wish for this, in whatever tradition you are comfortable. It will be 7 pm EDT here, but it can be 7 pm wherever you are. See more
Your looking to the outside and pursuing it in a flurry is already wrong. If you only think of seeking Buddha, then Buddha is a mere name. Do you know what it i...s that you are running to seek? Commentary: ‘Your looking to the outside and pursuing it’ implies following words and forms. ‘If you only think of seeking Buddha, then Buddha is a mere name’ means that we should not be deluded by the illusion of Buddha while picturing a glorious image of Buddha. Buddha is just a name to be used for the sake of convenience in order to express the formless and nameless perfect true-Self. In fact, Emptiness, the true-Self, Oneness and the Dharma are just names to be employed to express It. ‘Do you know what it is that you are running to seek?’ means that you are none other than the Buddha that you are running to seek. In other words, you should stop yourself from running to seek Buddha because running to seek Buddha is making Buddha seek Buddha. Student: What is the Buddha? Master: Why do you ask me about him while you are showing him now? Student: What do you mean? I am showing nothing. Master: That’s it.

Just a note to check how everybody is doing during the cocooning going on. May you be safe and healthy. I also want to say how much I have appreciated your calls and offers to help with groceries and rides. On a couple of occasions it was very, very welcome. Especially, when I wasn't feeling well up to and post root-canal last week. So happy it was considered an emergency by the CDA. May you keep well and use your time wisely. It appears that our Sunday teachings will ...be postponed for a longer period, so keep checking the website for any updates. Sitting in meditation is not a position of the body, it is a mental exercise where we remain still and silent as we observe the energy of our life. Being in the eye of the storm of the physical realm, we experience peace and tranquility. This is being in the moment, here and now. Opening the mind's eye, we see the One.
