Happy Hanukkah to all that Celebrate!! Last week and today we have been learning about Hanukkah and some of the traditions, words and the story of Hanukkah. We painted Star of David decorations, made hand menorahs, learned the very fun game of dreidel and used glass beads as our gelt, lit our menorah everyday and watched videos and listened to Hanukkah music. This week we have been talking about Remembrance Day. We read books, watched videos and made a poppy wreath. Thank you to all that served and are still serving to protect our Country. Lest we forget!

Last week we learned and celebrated Diwali! Such a fun week tasting some traditional Diwali sweets and a vegetable curry, basmati rice and garlic naan lunch, painting diyas, doing a firework art project, watching videos and reading books that I had and some that we picked up from the library. We learned a lot and had fun doing it. And that’s what it’s all about. Trips to the local public library are so much fun! Such a great learning experience and it’s also a fun little adventure! It’s great to be able to go back!!

Today we are learning, reflecting and talking about Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Teaching the very young about these things can be hard for them to understand, but exposing them is the first step to help raise these kids to know better and do better. I am also educating myself so I can do better. We listened to some First Nations music through the CBC and watched a video geared towards children about residential schools. There’s just something about these first few warm days of spring that just fills our buckets and gives us energy like nothing else. Last day with these boys. These days are always hard for me and I’m always an emotional wreck. Lucky for me these two have siblings here with me still so it’s not as bad this year (even though I have tears in my eyes posting this). I will sure miss having them here with me during the day but They are off to ‘big school’ and I wish them nothing but the best and I know they will do amazing and make new friends! The days maybe long (somedays longer than others) but the years are short! All the kids hold a special place in my heart and the goodbyes never get easier.

This brought me to tears this morning. This precious boy was with me for 3 years and last September aged out and went off into the world of big school. But hearing that I have made an impact on his life is one of the best parts about my job. Sometimes I never know what the children remember from our time together as they are so young, this means the world to me. Thank you @bonniee_nb for staying in touch and letting me see this lil man growing up! Always and forever a part of our daycare fam and my heart.

Then back to the house for some backyard fun! Swings, sand and slides!

No stroller needed in Fun Friday. We walk to a field and run and run and run!
