So this is postpartum round #2 . . . This post isn’t about my body, it’s about what I was thinking while I took the photo. I thought .... struggling with anxiety, depression and postpartum is invisible to the outside world. If I look sad or tired some might just brush it off as all new moms look like that, it’s normal. (Wtf?!? Normal?!? Cue the annoyed eye roll). Is that why our government struggles to see postpartum as a ‘real’ issue?? Is that why woman have to ‘fight for’... change?!? If that’s the case...then we need to speak up for ourselves and for all those who can’t because their personal battles don’t allow them to feel confident enough to do so. . . . My Trigeminal Neuralgia is back . . . Last spring I was diagnosed with this rare long term pain-disorder that affects my Trigeminal Nerve (a nerve in my face - specifically the right side of my face). It’s like having a tooth ache x 1000! Plus a sensitive to sound and light. ... . . . I recognized the pain right away and immediately felt so defeated. The medication I have to take for it can pass to a baby through breast milk. Breast feeding is no easy task to begin with and I just got to a point where I felt confident with it. . . . I’m going to do what’s best for myself because I know that’s what’s best for my baby Ada. I have to take a break from breast feeding so I can take my meds and get my nerve pain under control. My meditation/mantra for the past few days has been flow I cant fight this situation, I have to give in to the current and let it take me. I know I’ll come out ok on the other side. . . .
