OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW GRADS AND PART-TIME WORK I am currently on the hunt for a motivated and friendly RMT to join the LOCAL FIX team! This is an excellent opportunity to grow or expand and existing practice within an established massage therapy practice downtown. I am open to all applicants but prefer a RMT who has a sports or Kinesiology background and that works well with deep tissue focused client care. ... A recent article written in the Globe and Mail highlighted an important question that a lot of us struggle with: "...what exactly is ideal posture?" No, unfortunately this article does not end with a clean and simple answer to this problem, but none the less it is a good read to help people understand that it is also not a simple question. Manual therapists like myself, struggle with this problem on a daily basis with our clients. Posture is influenced by many factors and the... root cause may be trickier to explain than simply chalking it up to a bad chair at work. As the article points out, most experts have their own opinion on why we develop these learned postural habits. "We spend so much time hunched at our desks or bending our necks down to read our smartphones that these positions become ingrained in our regular movement patterns." Although computers and other technology are not helping matters, it is not surprising that a lack of regular movement appears to be the key to this ongoing struggle with poor posture. I don't imagine any of you are going to suddenly quit your desk job, however adopting exercise habits and healthy workplace practices that promote movement will be your best tool for fighting these general aches and pains. And when that doesn't feel like enough, consider massage therapy as another tool to help your body feel better and promote proper balance. Email me directly for an appointment at [email protected].
