The next instalment of the gnarly apple series features Muscadet de Dieppe. Originating from the Normandy town of Dieppe in around 1750, this apple is a bittersweet (high tannins, but low acidity) that can make a single variety or be added to a blend. These are not eating apples... (so don’t pick them from our orchard please!!!!) Our Muscadet de Dieppe trees were planted in 2017 - some dwarf (those pictured) and some semi-dwarf trees. This *might* be the most excited I’ve been in a while. This brings my two most favourite things together. The brilliant, award winning chocolatier Angela Roest @centre.and.main.chocolate has handcrafted the most beautiful chocolate tasting flight for us. Each single origin chocolate has been paired with each cider on the flight by yours truly (@pommeliersara ). They are an exploration in country-specific cacao terroir and are a delight to the senses. They come with tasting and pairing notes so you can enjoy both flights at your leisure on the patios. Another one... not so sweet at about 14B (7.6%ABV approx). BUT look at the colour under the blue. Not clear but pink- from red fleshed apples So cool. Unfortunately, the colour in pink apple juice is harder to keep stable than a wine (different colour compound). If we have enough, will experiment and share the results!!

look at the sugar content on this heirloom from our orchard- and it’s only Sept! If this was the only apple in a blend (if only we had enough.. sigh...), it would be about 11% ABV.
