In case you are looking for a heifer bull this spring. These 3 Redman sons should be able to handle a lot of heifers. Lot 35 is my personal favourite. And he is the most photogenic as well.

On really cold days we treat the cows to a bit of hay. Well it’s really extra rations to top up their tanks in 30 below weather. The calves really go after it too. I’m always amazed how well they do in these low temperatures if they healthy and strong.

This cool dude was slotted to be in our 2020 bull sale. Both his parents are Homozygous polled. He came up with white blood cells in his semen so we pulled him from the sale and waited him out. Used him as a cleanup bull on a few cows. Sent him to work for the summer at our friends place.Hes been home a couple days and we are quite delighted with how he looks. Lonnie is claiming him to use on his small black Simmental herd next year. Smaller birth weight, homo polled head and a non dilutor make him quite valuable.

Gotta switch it up a bit. This big old Red Angus cow and her tank of a calf are one of my favorites. Nathan claims her as his but I can still admire her.

Just had to share a picture of this tank of a bred heifer. We bought her as an open at the Fleck Equation last December from the Parker boys. She is a daughter of Lone Stone Oil Baron. So here she has come back to the same grass her sire was raised on. Easy keeping as they come. Im totally in love with her.

They may be little but its amazing how much help they can be.....even though the attention span of these two 5 year olds was on the shorter side we let them help with our processing the last two days whenever they felt like it. Think how much help these guys will be to us in a few short years. . Teaching the next generation to work cattle is a passion of ours.

Someone (Dwayne) said never too many cow pictures. It sure beats politics!

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 25.06.2020

Can you ever get too many cow pics. I never get tired of taking them.lol Stampeder daughter on the left and Geronimo daughter on the right.

Ive been working on the picture files of my cows. What do I have , what am I missing. I came across this file that really showed the life line of old 638. She would have been 14 this year . She was born in 2006 and had her first calf in 2008 and her last in 2019. Never missed a year ...Sold 6 bulls out of her and 2 females. Have 3 females working in our herd and will be offering her last calf at our 2020 female sale in November. The picture progression was what really intrigued me. What did she look like as a bred and as a 14 year old. Some cows change more than others (kinda like us humans) I want to be like this old girl and be recognizable at all stages of my life. HaHa

To sell (in our upcoming heifer sale in November) or not to sell. 3 votes will be cast. Wonder who will sway the vote.

JNR Cashmere is meeting all our expectations for a Homo Polled Fleckvieh Herdsire. We are estatic with him and his progeny. This picture was taken a few days ago out on pasture. He easily bred over 30 cows last year as a yearling and this year he went in with 60 cows. We will be offering 4 top open females sired by him at our Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale here at the farm Nov 27/2020. Canadian semen will be available for the 2021 breeding season. No international semen at this time. Picking out a yearling bull and spending a fair dollar on him has lots of risk. We are so glad we bought this guy. Sometimes dreams do come true.

Can you count to three? This is the extent of our hay baling to date. Come on High Pressure System!!!

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 11.05.2020

JNR Cashmere. X APLX Envoy. Stunning combination. She could be homo polled. We will be offering this calf for sale this fall. At the Cashmere Affair. Which will be a part of our Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale.

One needs to use every trick in the book to put hay up in our country these days. Lonnie is trying out our new tedder. Something hes had on his wish list for a few years. Heres hoping it gives us the edge we need.

This is not a calendar picture. Here is Carter our 5th generation farmer out surveying the cows and calves with his Dad. He never tires of the cow checking.

An amazing mother daughter combo! Uppsala,Cujo,Regio,Barbosa. Paternal contributors to their pedigree. Both with JNR Cashmere calves at foot. Strong Horned genetics bred polled. Boom! It works!

The Junior Junior division of Lone Stone Farms has a new enterprise. Just the right size.

Our 3 year old granddaughter got ahold of the sorting lists today. She assures me she can recognize the number 3.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 23.01.2020

Day two of calf processing. Today we did just over 100 calves. Quick and efficient we were especially with these two giving a hand. Carter got really good at setting up the CFIA tagger and Biz wanted to sit right beside me and play with the prickly things. (tattoo numbers)

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 03.01.2020

Starting the process. Nathan and Alisha and Karen are working to get the calves ready for pasture. The young guns are doing the leg work. Karen is the only one who gets a chair.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 27.12.2019

Kinda boring over here. Invite me over. Doesnt matter to me what color you are.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 21.12.2019

Calving done......cant go to bull sales.....since the cows are sorted, might as well get on with whats next on the agenda. Oh dear, are we going to regret this in 9 months?

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 16.12.2019

Finally coming up for air after the bull sale. Thank you to everyone who attended and bid on the bulls and the commercial heifers. We fed 300 on Friday. That is the fullest I have ever seen the shop. Kevin Semler was the lucky bull buyer to have his name drawn for this original oil painting. Kevin is a local cow calf producer who has now bought over 40 bulls from us. Hes pretty sure his wife can find a place to hang it. Again thank you to all who made our Bull Sale a success.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 05.12.2019

History being made today!!! Never before in our bull sale history has the Transcon team ever sat outside drawing up the sale order. What a beautiful day!!

Child Labor is happening here at Lone Stone as we wipe and shine up every inch of the shop in readiness for our bull sale on Friday. Scrub a dub dub Carter is singing. I think they just like playing in the water.

If two year olds are a good fit for your program this year...These fine fellows would be happy to come live at your place. Lone Stone Farms annual bull sale. Feb 28/2020 at the farm at Westlock, Alberta

No twins here!!! The little one on the right is a true opportunist....or the little one on the left invited his friend back to his place for lunch!

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 06.11.2019

I am udderly amazed at this 12 year old cow. Took this picture yesterday.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 21.10.2019

So if you remember back a few posts I put up the pic of a Fleckvieh heifer with a silver colored calf and I was wondering what I would do with her? Well I could not believe the response of people. The color did not put them off one bit and several offers came in to buy her. We may have to do a draw as I really dont know how to decide who gets her. Maybe the one who comes up with the best name for her will get to buy her when shes weaned. I was out wandering around the farm with my camera on this beautiful day and I ran into that sweet little girl and her mama. Providing a couple of pics to show you how she is growing.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 16.10.2019

Weve got 19 two year old Red Angus in our bull sale on February 28/20 Not left over bulls. Kept over bulls. These kept over bulls have never been offered for sale. They were fed a growing ration last winter and grassed all summer and into the fall. We have culled them ruthlessly for temper, feet and legs, and testicle size. Buy with confidence.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 26.09.2019

The pictures are taken, the videos being edited, Writeups are written, catalogue is soon to hit mailboxes. Whew!!! Bull Sales are a lot of work especially when we are calving hard at the same time. Sending a few pics out ahead of the catalogue. A couple of homo polled full fleckvieh bulls and a couple of really stout Red Angus.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 23.09.2019

What in the world am I going to do with this beautiful silver heifer calf. Black Simmental x Fleck= surprise!!!!!

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 08.09.2019

We decided against the man bun...and just went with something more traditional.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 26.08.2019

Those parking lot shenanigans have resulted in these two beauties!! And more! We have been waiting JNR Cashmere to see what you can do. We are not disappointed. Way to go Langer Fleckvieh. Ours are coming right behind you.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 12.08.2019

So glad I can just swivel my camera around 360 degrees. Especially to catch the ones calving in the wrong pen. How dare she!!

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 27.07.2019

Question: If you leave the gate open to the 2 year old bull pen.... what will 50 bulls do to your feed yard in 4 hours ? Most of you know ,and are laughing because today it wasnt you.

Lone Stone Farms. Lonnie & Karen Brown. Nathan & Alisha Brown 10.07.2019

We would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the great day we had yesterday at our female sale. We are so grateful for our consignors, for Transcon our sales management, for Keith Shologan of DLMS, for those who attended the sale and those who purchased females. Karen had a pretty big sleep last nite and is fully (maybe only half) charged to meet the challenge of next weeks processing of the whole cow herd. (And a bit of house cleaning). Thankyou again from the Brown family. PS. Lonnies comment this morning was can we just leave this shop set up for the bull sale?
