That's Us on the Harbour's Edge. This area was called Klah Ah Men, which means Place of Refuge, home for thousands of years to the Coast Salish people who settled in seasonal camps and year round villages for the Tla’amin, Klahoose and Homalco peoples. Lund is named after the Swedish home city of the Thulin brothers who settled here, opening the only hotel north of Vancouver in 1895, later adding the store providing supplies for the region. ... Forestry and boat-building were successful early industries before a road link was built in the 1950’s connecting Lund and Powell River to the rest of the world, prior to that, getting here was by boat and later by seaplane. Our side of the harbour has steep angle, and therefore made the best location to bring in the great Union Steamships, some up to 150’ in length. This side of the bay here at the Lund Harbour House provided the perfect sheltered landing spot for Canoes, and now our Kayaks we launch next door. Enjoy your stay here.
