Morning Prayer Jan. 12. 2021
What would you like lifted in prayer?
Thanks to Rev. Aneeta Devi Saroop and Rev. Kristen Steele for writing the letter. "We have a COVID-19 leadership team that has been writing up and adapting (church) protocols as restrictions change, Sayers said. We’ve been thankful for the online tools so we are able to stream live our weekend worship on our Facebook page, YouTube and the church website. Sayers and McKenzie signed the letter because like Nestegaard, they felt it was important to give another voice amid fa...ith leaders that are publicly defying COVID-19 protocols. Sayers said he doesn’t see faith and science as mutually exclusive, and while everyone is looking forward to the time they can meet again in person, they have found ways to keep connected with their congregation. In fact, some of their online offerings have given them a broader audience, connecting them to people from Washington State and southern Ontario." See more
"Please join us for a conversation guided by the amazing Dr. Mandeep Kaur Mucina and Simone Blais! The event starts at 5:30. But come early to hear music from John Aluan Alaya!" - Florentien, Inter-Cultural Association
Today, Nov. 19, 2020, BC Health released new restrictions around Covid-19 that come into affect tonight at midnight. The Covid Leadership Team at Church of the Cross will release a statement via our MailChimp mailing list on Friday, Nov. 20, updating how this affects the Church of the Cross community. Based upon government guidelines we are asked to curtail in-person worship beginning this Sunday, Nov. 22, but there is specific mention under Religious gatherings and worship ...services in the government update below, that churches may continue offering a worship livestream. While it is disappointing we cannot gather in person, we are heartened to continue offering the worship livestream, and recognize it is for everyone’s collective health that we implement these restrictions. Stay tuned for more information. https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-s/restrictions

As you cared for homeless folks you cared for me. (Matthew 25)
Riley cam this Thursday. Good doggo!
My deepest condolences to the family of Fred Sasakamoose, who passed away earlier today. Fred was the first First Nations NHL player from Saskatchewan and a great grassroots guy. His passion for sport and family is something I deeply admire. Rest In Peace, Fred.

Similar to the calling Board of Care of Communities at Church of the Cross has been doing. The Board will begin another round of calling in the next week for people who are more isolated. Send additional suggestions to Nicky at the office. - Pr. Lyndon https://www.albernivalleynews.com//friendly-phone-service/
Kyrie Eleison. This is how white fisherman in Nova Scotia are treating Mi'kmaw fisherman during a week of giving thanks and sharing harvests. Let us find ways forward that uphold the rights of Indigenous neighbours. - Pr. Lyndon

The Truth and Reconcilation Committee at Church of the Cross recommends viewing the hour long documentary Doctrine of Discovery produced by the Anglican Church of Canada. Carolyn Klaassen who led worship on Orange Shirt Sunday and recent Dessert & Dialogue speaker first brought this film to our attention, available to stream on-line for free: https://www.anglican.ca/primate/tfc/drj/doctrineofdiscovery/
