Being at a hospital and going through physical exams may be difficult for a lot of patients, but having amazing staff and volunteers around can make a world of a difference. Brenda is one of our incredible volunteers supporting the John and Josie Watson Breast Health Centre at Mackenzie Health. Her energy, enthusiasm and love for helping others is palpable. I had decided to volunteer when I was staying at another hospital several years ago, looking after my mother, sa...ys Brenda. I was there 24/7 and the volunteers lifted our spirits in many ways. As soon as I retired, I decided to become a volunteer. If I can make someone smile or lighten their load somehow, it makes me happy. Effective tomorrow, November 24, 2020, each patient will be allowed one designated essential visitor during their hospital stay. This is to ensure the safety of our patients, families, staff, physicians, and volunteers.
