There are 3 reasons for starting early treatment while the patient still has baby teeth: 1. Growth differences between the upper and lower jaws causing underbites or severe overbites. 2. Crossbites of the front or back teeth where the upper teeth are caught on the outside of the lower teeth. 3. Severe crowding that causes some adult teeth to be impacted or blocked out. We love transformations that take less than a year! Hudson had a deep overbite, mismatched midlines, and a narrow smile. He was an Invisalign superstar who finished his treatment in under a year. The main focus of treatment of deep overbites is making the smile wider: as the back teeth expand and make space, the overlap in the front decreases. Upper canine teeth frequently come in very high, hidden by the lip, when there is moderate to severe crowding of the upper teeth. Rachel was a star patient who finished her Invisalign treatment in only 12 months. We frequently get questions about how Invisalign can "bring a tooth down" without braces. First, it is important to make space for the teeth that are higher by straightening the adjacent teeth. Secondly, we place an attachment made out of tooth-coloured material directly on the tooth that is high, allowing for the aligner to apply pressure to move the tooth. Sometimes the patient wears an elastic to pull the tooth down.
