What a week for a cozy glass of red! We've finally put away the patio furniture and started to hunker down and get the winery ready for the snow. In the meantime, our full bodied Lodestone Red brings some warmth to our body and soul. Have you tried it yet? ... It's a bold, rich red with great fruit notes and subtle spices. Evenings are absolutely gorgeous at the winery and we wanted to share that special ambiance with you! Now open Friday and Saturday nights until 10pm! (in addition to our normal Wednesday-Sunday 1-6 hours) The city lights twinkling in the distance, the rustic wood and the modern glass and steel play so well together with the accent lighting and custom chandeliers.... We have lots of cozy indoor seating for groups of 2-10, outdoor firepits, Christmas lights in the vineyards and mulled wine in addition to our regular flights and glasses of wine and of course local cheese. What a year to delve into what we're thankful for.The ups and down, twists and turns and juggling everyday life while trying to stay sane is one for the record books. I don’t know about you, but we don’t celebrate our milestones or our successes enough. It’s always been onto the next project, goal, task or fire to put out. This year accentuated that fault of ours. Our goals and projects didn’t always come out exactly as we imagined and some things we had to postpone indefi...nitely. We compared our actual 2020 successes to our goals and expectations for 2020 and they didn’t always prove how proud we should be of what we accomplished so far this year. But we have SO MUCH to be Thankful for! The Ingenuity and sacrifices made by everyone this year to keep things open and food on our tables, Our Communities, Living in Atlantic Canada, the awesome WEATHER and all of the little Magnetic Moments that we’ll cherish, because those moments seemed sweeter this year! Businesswise, we’ve reached so many milestones over the past handful of months. Winning the most gold medals we’ve ever won at the All Canadian Wine Championships, having our wines served at so many great gourmet meals and events around NB for the first time! Being scared about how to make ends meet this year and then being overwhelmed by the local support! To things like finally getting some key equipment hooked up that can raise the bar for our wines too! Moving back into the orange phase this week is bittersweet. We were on a roll with gatherings of friends and families enjoying the awesome fall here. We had so many cool food events and activities lined up for the next few weeks. We had our own family dinner plans that would have been the first of such plans in many months! Those plans are all changed now, but we know that it was the right thing to do to get us back to yellow again soon, so we can see more of you soon again too! Happy Thanksgiving

Wow. What a harvest! We harvested over 150,000 lbs of local grapes from our estate and 4 other vineyards from across NB. That’s enough for 60,000 bottles of 2020 wine. 100% NB grown grapes. Over 20 varieties made into 50 (yes, 50!) different lots (batches) ranging from small micro-experiments to tanks over 10,000 bottles at a time. These small lots let us test different grape varieties, different yeasts, different skin contact time for our reds, ageing methods and even subt...le things like at what temperature it ferments at. There is literally no book written about how to make wines in a climate like ours with the varieties we can grow, so trial and error and playful and open-minded experiments is crucial in developing a new wine region! These 50 lots lead us (mostly!) down exciting paths where we get to explore what wines from here should taste like and shape the way we progress and show off what we can do here! Everything is now safe and sound in tanks and barrels and slowly bubbling away on its way to becoming our delicious 2020 wines. We hope you’re as excited as we are! Speaking of delicious wines. Cranberry Wine for Thanksgiving! So many people tell us that this wine "tastes like Thanksgiving". It's cool how flavours can trigger such thoughts and memories, and cranberries are a pretty pivotal part of any special feast! Our wine, Mystique, showcases the balanced sweetness and tart and tangy cranberry flavours that pair perfectly with any turkey dinner. Not having turkey? Then a glass of cranberry wine or a wine cocktail or spritzer can work wonders too! Fall is gorgeous at the winery! We love the colours, the crisp air, the smells of the startsof freshly fermenting wine and the sound of the bird scares keeping our grapes safe. And you know who agrees? YOU! We're actually 99% reserved for patio experiences and tours tomorrow September 26th. Literally, our busiest day ever! We only have a few spots left for 4:30 or 5. Did you ever expect us to be featured in the BBC about growing grapes in NB?! The article focused on the world-wide wine industry and the negative effects of climate change on most wine producing regions. We were able to offer a success story of a rare positive effect of actually creating a new wine producing region! With new grape-varieties that thrive in our climate, understanding the science and nuances of grape-growing and winemaking in our Terroir and the longer, warmer ...growing season has NB poised to really grow a wine industry. (BTW!) Personally and professionally, we'd love to see 20 wineries and 500 acres of grapes in the ground in NB over the next 10 years. We're definitely not rooting and hoping for climate change. We are growing our business while still doing our part to leave the world a better place than when we came into it. We farm with the least amount of inputs/energy/chemicals as possible. We built our winery as energy efficient as we could and even repurposed and reused lots of old materials. Most importantly, we truly believe that by growing the local wine industry, we'll be saving millions of bottles of wine from being shipped here from all around the world over our lifetime. There are still some negatives with implications for agriculture in NB due to climate change, but it's a life that gives you lemons, make lemonade type thing. Life is giving NB grapes though, good grapes, so let's make wine! Fast forward a decade, and we’re soooo proud to see what’s produced here now and what’s to come for grape-growing in NB. Have you ever opened a bottle of wine with a piece of paper? Neither had we until TODAY! We wanted to try to celebrate the opening of the Atlantic Bubble in a special, creative way, so we took a map of the Atlantic provinces to make a bottle opener and after lots of struggling and some impromptu puppy love, finally got it done! Happy Fathers day to Jeff a man who lives between a rock and a hard place. Winery Founder. Builder. Designer. Papa. Farmer. Landscaper. Treehuger. Dessert connoisseur. Beach bum.... Doing what he loves. These rocks are salvaged handchiseled foundation stones from the Baptist church near Elgin NB which are being featured in our landscaping around the winery.

The grapes are ahead compared to previous years due to this dry and hot season so far. This is a red grape fruit cluster of a promising new variety called TP 1112. As far as we know is our 0.5 acre plot one of the largest trials of this grape variety which hasn't been baptized with a name yet.
