ICE UPDATE - January7: The boarded ODR and Lake ice are currently open, we will continue to monitor the ice over the next few days in line with the changing weather and inform you of any changes. We'd like to start off the new year by highlighting Kim Cleland as our January 2021 Volunteer of the Month. Kim is one of two event co-chairs and is involved in every event run by our VOLUNTEERS in Mahogany. Hats off to Kim for her dedication as a VOLUNTEER and for giving back to her community!

Snowshoe (20 pairs -- various sizes -- ask for size according to weight range) & Skatetrainers (12) available beginning at 10 a.m. Sat., Jan. 2nd at Reception at the Main Beach House. These rentals are free but you must fill out a one time waiver (go to ivrnet and search either "snowshoe" or "skatetrainer" -- add rental to your cart, agree to the waiver, then proceed to checkout -- but before you're done -- please go to Profile and add a credit card to hold on file (in case ...of damage, loss or non-return of rental). These rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis for a 3 hour period and are available from 10 - 5 Sat., Jan. 2nd and then 9 - 5 seven days a week beginning Sunday, Jan. 3rd. ICE UPDATE - DECEMBER 28 ODR - is up and running please go to Calendly to book space also please remember and respect the Covid guide lines with regards to social distancing. LAKE ICE is open and rinks and skate trails are operating ... NOTE: The weight of the snow is causing some surface water pooling and there is some area where this has occurred on the lake surface. These have been marked off with pylons. Please stay away from these areas. Also if you see water pooling on ice surface please let us know ASAP by calling 403 453 1221 ext 1 so it can be assessed and action taken. The ice thickness underneath the bridges is heading in the right direction although we need a few more nights of colder weather to build that thickness. ICE FISHING - if ice fishing on the lake just a friendly reminder to please: - please fill in and pack in you fishing hole when done fishing. - please fish at least 10 metres away from ice rinks and skate tracks - please no propane tanks or cylinders are permitted in the parks or in the lake thank you. Hey Mahogany, we are super happy to announce the opening of the Boarded O.D.R.......6 days earlier than last year!!!!! As we all know the O.D.R is popular and just like the summer we will be providing a reservation system to ensure everyone has an opperutnity to use the rink. Reservations can be made 48 hours in advance and up to the time of play. Bookings can be made by visiting https://calendly.com/mahoganyhoa or, going to Mahoganyhoa.com and clicking the link at the bottom..., right of the home page. Due to current enhanced public health measures the O.D.R will be limited to pleasure skate and individual hockey skills and drills only. No team sports or shinnys. Mahogany, we ask that you adhere to the reservation requirements and the mandatory public health measures. Our Rinks can only remain open if we all do our part. At this time the MHOA rinks are for the exclusive use of Mahogany residents only, no outside family members or friends are allowed. Failure to follow this will result in further restrictions being put on our outdoor amenities. Absolutely no social gatherings No out of the community guests or family. O.D.R is by reservation only. UPDATE: Hi All, just to give you an update, we have heard back from Public Health in regards to attendnace in person to pay fees and the response was a positive one. We can have 1 person in the main reception area at any one time to pay their fees, others will be asked to wait outside until the reception area is free. Hello Mahogany, A quick update NOVEMBER 30, Ice update; Rink - still flooding although weather not cooperating with warm weather melting the ice thus far. Lake Ice - some test holes completed, ice still too thin and some open spaces in places. Red flags are flying so please stay off the lake for the time being.... Mahogany Ice rink update NOVEMBER-24. Hello Mahogany, it is that time of year again where the MHOA team are starting to lay ice on the boarded rink. As of today we have completed 13 floods. All is looking good, although weather is not cooperating over the next 10 days as day time temperatures be will be above average so we may lose some of our ice. The red flags are flying at both beaches which means do not go on the lake as lake ice is still to thin with open patches. Onc...e thick enough we will bring you ice depths. The implementation of the rink ice chillers are at least 10 years away as costs of implementation is approximately $500,000 with estimated annual operating costs of approximately $100,000 per year. At this point in time MHOA does not have these resources available. Hello Mahogany Residents, Mahogany HOA is in the early stage of preparing a bid proposal with the City of Calgary to purchase one of their mobile skate board parks. If successful it would be used throughout the spring and summer months to provide skateboarding and scooter opportunities as well as programs, lessons, summer camps and such for the community. Science tutoring with Emma will be starting on Tuesday 24th November for a 4 week program. Sessions will be offered to grades 1 through 5, between 6 & 8pm. Gymnasium Reopening for Drop-In Sports. We are happy to announce the reopening of the Gymnasium starting Sunday October 18th, 2020, for drop-in sports and family time! The MHOA have implemented several changes for participation due to COVID-19. These changes will be similar to our current MHOA programs which are currently running and are proving to be successful. Changes that have been put in place for the Gymnasium drop-in sports and family time are as follows:... Participants will be required to register for the FREE drop-in sport via Ivrnet. This will be advertised on a 6-week program rotation basis. Purposely to maintain consistent cohorts. Residents only. No additional unregistered participants will be permitted. The MHOA will provide nets and goals only. The MHOA will not loan out paddles, balls, hockey sticks, etc. Participants will need to check-in at reception before making their way to the gymnasium. Participants will be required to complete an online health assessment prior to entering the gymnasium. There will be a drop-in sport (lead) champion for each sport and family time who will help the MHOA ensure the program is ran smoothly and safely. Upon entry to the Gymnasium, attendance will be completed by sport lead. At this time, the reopening of the Gymnasium will be open to Residents only. All drop in program registrations will go live on October 15th, 1:00pm. Registrations will be on a first come first served basis. The sport lead will not be able to book spaces.
