May 1, 2020 Haldimand County Municipal Enforcement Services 53 Thorburn St. S Cayuga, ON NIAIEO Under normal circumstances, the campground/trailer park season would be well underway. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Haldimand County residents and businesses in a number of ways. Regulations continue to evolve and change, and I am writing to provide you with the most updated information from the Province should you have any questions with respect to opening your park or permi...tting visitors. On May 1, the Premier of Ontario announced a small list of additional businesses that would be permitted to re-open as of May 4, however, campgrounds and trailer parks must remain closed. As per Provincial Order O. Reg. 82/20 - CLOSURE OF PLACES OF NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES: Every person who operates a seasonal campground shall ensure that, (a) campsites are provided only to individuals who do not have another residence in Canada and are in need of housing during the emergency period; (b) only campsites with electricity, waterservice andfacilitiesforsewage disposal are provided for use; (c) campsites are made available onlyfor trailers and recreational vehicles; and (d) all recreational facilities in the campground, and all other shared facilities in the campground such as bathrooms, are closed. We want to remind operators that use of campgrounds and other seasonal parks for any use other than those permitted by the Provincial Order (as above) may result in an original set fine of $880.00 being imposed on operators per day, per offence. Continued offences (after receiving fines from the County), and where a court convicts, may see an additional penalty imposed to: (a) an individual, a fine of not more than $100,000 and for a term of imprisonment of not more than one year; (b) an individual who is a director or officer of a corporation, a fine of not more than $500,000 and for a term of imprisonment of not more than one year; and (c) a corporation, to a fine of not more than $10,000,000. www.HaldimandCounty.ca Haldimand County Municipal Enforcement Services 53 Thorburn St. S Cayuga, ON NIA lEO Campgrounds and other seasonal parks are encouraged to contact Haldimand County Municipal Enforcement Services or the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit for guidance with respect to any exceptional circumstances (e.g. if a seasonal occupant has no where else to go).
