Thank you David Sharratt for this wonderful gift. A totally different perspective and a good memory of what and how it was like at the end.

https://youtu.be/MfjR5niNVIY 10 years ago we swam across Lake Ontario. Today in a much different scenario on the same day in the same lake, I went to thank the ...lake for allowing me to swim it safely then and the very many other times I have been in it. Just before the sun was up, a few hard core swimmers were at the edge of the water working to get adapted to the cold water before the swim. Here 2.5 minutes out of the 50 that took to get in the water and swim. A meaningful way to celebrate with water temperatures between 8 to 10C. (painfully cold) and yet that was not enough to stop some of us today. Even if only for a short swim. See more

10 years ago today Miguel and his swim crew was preparing for the swim across Lake Ontario from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto. A successful swim that raised over $13,000 for Canadian Tire Jumpstart foundation and saw just under 300 children having swimming lessons to prevent drownings in Ontario. It was 11 months of preparation and just over 18 hours that the swim took however, the reach of the swim was something that we did not expected. 10 years later ...not only we have helped people to learn how to swim through Jumpstart but as a result of the swim Miguel had requests to coach more and more people over the years, Embrace Open water Swimming was created a few years later, for two years we had the opportunity to manage a 25m. pool and we helped then hundreds of people that otherwise would have never had a chance to enjoy the water safely. In our opinion the success of the swim is there. In the smiles of hundreds of people that have been able to achieve their goals, in the surprise of many more that learned that they can float on their own! The success still is in the many more that are requesting our help and the fact that so many people today have a chance to swim safely. We are grateful for the opportunities given and happily today we remember and celebrate in many ways the effort that just started 10 years ago. Once again I want to make it very clear, the fact that I swam across the lake was only possible thanks to the help of many very generous people that in a small or a great way made it possible. I will never be grateful enough to all of you ... you know who you are and I want to once again express my appreciation for all the work and help that you very generously gifted me 10 years ago. Today our very good friends Jaimie and Justin are grieving the loss of their beautiful, high spirited and loving dog Kennah, who loved life, to hike, play fetch anything and specially play in water. Not so long ago, Kennah got sick with a kidney infection that turned out to be leptospirosis. 22 years ago my beloved giant schnauzer went exactly through the same story so I am deeply saddened to see someone else I love going through the same pain.... Both dogs somewhere, somehow when they were out doing what dogs do: loving life they got this terrible bacteria in them. In Kennah’s case she was treated quickly. I know that Jamie and Justin did everything they could to help their lovely dog who fought bravely but sadly, yesterday they made the stupidly hard decision of letting Kennah go. Jaimie has written a compelling story about leptospirosis and I am (as some other friends of her) sharing it here in the hopes that you all will read and share it too. Maybe we all can help educate people with pets about leptospirosis and to prevent other pets to get it. There is also a go fund me page to support them in the not so easy financial burden of fighting this. I know many of my friends are pet lovers and I know you know how hard is being on them. If you can, please support them. If you can https://www.gofundme.com/support-kennahs-lepto-recovery
