Janet Kanayok, Director of Programs & Services, comments on APTN News in reference to MIA COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics being held on site at our offices at 1000 Notre Dame Avenue in Winnipeg. We wanted to make sure that our community members were well informed with factual information". Kanayok believes offering a culturally safe space has eased some of those apprehensions. MIA is hosting another clinic on May 25. https://www.aptnnews.ca//urban-vaccine-clinics-providing-/

Nunavut’s Annie Buscemi was named the inaugural winner of Pauktuutit’s Young Inuk Woman of the Year, presented for the first time in a category for those aged 1...6-35. After a misdiagnosed hand injury left this apprentice electrician struggling with anxiety, in October 2020 she began posting Inuit-specific ‘Reasons to Stay Alive Today’ on several social media platforms, quickly earning her more than 10,300 followers on TikTok alone. In this third of five videos from the AGM, President Kudloo talks about Annie’s achievements using aspects of Inuit culture to raise awareness of the importance of mental health.
