Marathon by the Sea 12.11.2020

The Bay of Fundy International Marathon will not take place in 2021 We regret that due to the large number of unknowns associated with the future trajectory of ...the COVID-19 pandemic the Bay of Fundy International Marathon committee has made the difficult decision to not offer this event in 2021. While many events have gone virtual, we will not be offering this as an option as we believe the value of our event is in the real experience of participating, as runners, volunteers, spectators or supporters, in our unique set of cross-border races. There are various discussions taking place about possible small scale local events on Campobello Island and in Lubec - there are wonderful routes to be run in Roosevelt-Campobello International Park on the Canadian side of the border, and between Lubec and the spectacular West Quoddy Head - also the most easterly point in the continental USA - on the USA side. If quarantine is no longer a concern at that time runners would be most welcome to visit our beautiful area and join local runners in these. While we hope to resume our cross-border Canada-USA events in 2022, we will in the meantime be refunding all registered runners, including those who were originally registered for the 2020 event and deferred until 2021. Runners should inform us through [email protected] if they would prefer their registration fees to be donated to the local food banks. All 2020 registrants will be notified in advance of our opening of 2022 registration. Other updates and announcements about 2021 and 2022 events will be placed on our website at: https://bayoffundymarathon.com , here on this Facebook page, and in the usual online listings, calendars, social media sites and the like. We hope all our participants stay safe and if you are a runner - just keep on running. If you aren't - well, why not start? Bay of Fundy International Marathon Committee 20 October 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazen Robert Fulton. Hazen was a good friend and a dedicated supporter of the Marathon by the Sea. Ha...zen had a strong work ethic that went from start to finish and back again. He was never a runner but he would return year after year. In the early days we worked together maintaining , measuring and marking the MBTS course Hazen was the only B certified IAFF/AIMS/Athletics Canada course measure in Eastern Canada. He will be missed by everyone that he new and assisted through the past 26 years. Hazen dropped by my door two weeks ago with a box of MBTS t-shirts he had collected through the years he told me he wanted to make sure that they went to someone that could use them. We visited for a couple of hours and I was fortunate enough to be able to tell Hazen what a great friendship we had developed over the years. Thanks Again Hazen .. Love the Marathon by the Sea

The Marathon by the Sea committee has decided to refund as much as we can back to our participants. We are sure you are aware that staging an event like this has many upfront costs that unfortunately cannot be carried over to the following year. 2020 registrants may choose one of the following options:... Option 1: Registered 2020 participants will all be deferred to Marathon by the Sea July 18th2021. (Nothing is required) Option 2: Registered 2020 participants will be able to receive 50% refund of their initial registration fee minus the Running Room processing fee that was paid at time of registration. (Please forward your request to [email protected] prior to July 1st) Option 3: Transfer registration to a non-registered runner (Registered participants can do this via Running Room Registration site at any time prior to event) The Marathon by the Sea Event Weekend for 2021 will be held July 16, 17 & 18/2021 at the Diamond Jubilee Cruise Terminal.
