In 1966 Huntington Beach was running a contest following the San Diego World contest. It was at this contest that Larry Met Midget Farrelly and together decid...ed to build Gordon and Smiths version of the Midget Farrelly stringerless. Larry and Midget were sticklers for perfection with their surfboard production. Midget was involved from Templates to the fins. In addition to these skills he was an interesting speaker and a journalist for a Sydney newspaper. He had a passion for all things surfing. The energy created by team riders surfing and working together produced its own magic. The demands for new innovation and the customer determination to be on the cutting edge contributed to the pressure that pushed G&S to rise to the challenge. The powerhouse team of Midget Farrelly, Skip Frye and Mike Hynson combined there skills as a shapers, Surfers, designers, and competitors which resulted in the Surf Boards of the time continually evolving.
