Maritime Storm Trackers 05.06.2021

Hey all! Bit busy as of late but I just wanted to drop by and give a quick note about Sunday night. While unlikely to cause widespread disruption due to the timing, a lot of snow will fall quite quickly Sunday overnight. Delays from Sunday night, into Monday afternoon should be expected and I believe 25-40cm will fall across NS. With the high end falling from the south shore, in through HRM and up through the eastern shore. Closer to 25cm around Amherst, and area.... For southern NB and Eastern PEI, it'll be a bit closer to 15-25cm. Surrounding NB and PEI will receive some amounts obviously but lower than 15cm should be par for the course for any maritimer! Take care, be safe! ~Tykian

Hey everyone! So there's another system approaching for Saturday-Sunday. Good news first, for most of you it is a non-issue and will fall as rain. Nova Scotia and PEI are set to be exclusively rain, or so much rain that any snowfall is irrelevant. For NB though, Saint John and Moncton may be safe, but Fredericton, and Edmundston will see a very different system. Those in Northern NB will get what starts as an icy mix that becomes snow very quickly. ... It will change to rain in the afternoon but the system is mostly passed/dissipated by then. So all that bit of rain will do is solidify the ice underneath. This along with high winds will make for extremely treacherous conditions. I would advise staying home sunday morning if you can help it. Up to 25cm is possible in heavy bands I'll be back if this intensifies, or if the affected area changes. But I expect this will be the only update on this system. ~Tykian I

Hey all. I want to apologize again, not only for the timeframe mishap, but also a bad forecast. This storm hit much higher up than it was showing it would when I checked, and as such, NB, PEI and Western NS received far more than forecast. I will endeavour to be more careful. The sources I use are not paid maps they are freely available, but sometimes during the turn of the year, they are slow to update, and so I was missing about half of my usual information. I felt obligat...ed to make a post, but really shouldn't have based on a large gap in data. This is not how I want to run my page. I want to be reliable, but more importantly, I want to be accurate when I speak, therefore, some storms may be skipped in the future if there is a lack of data available to me. That isn't really my ideal solution either, but I don't want to give bad information and I feel like no info isn't as bad as less info. Regards, ~Tykian

Hey all! I just wanted to apologize. I forgot to take the 4 hours off for time zone differences and thus the snow started roughly 4 hours earlier than I claimed it would. So sorry. Take care,... ~Tykian See more

Hey all! Sorry I didn't post earlier, the turn of the year has been hectic for me! So the upcoming system hasn't been overexaggerated from what I've seen so far 15-20cm is the call for most of NS, PEI, and Southern NB. Up to 30cm could fall across the HRM stretching up to cape breton, and there will still be some snow for the rest of NB, just not as much. ... System rolls into southern NS around 12-2pm local time on Saturday, and the other provinces closer to ~5pm and it will hang around into the early hours of Sunday morning. Prepare yourselves for crappy driving, and lots of shoveling. All in all, a pretty tame start to 2021 for the Maritimes, eh? Stay safe, ~Tykian
