RUSSET - Heritage variety with firm flesh, intricate flavours and aromas. The Golden Russet is an apple that had fallen out of favour for a number of years, and had virtually disappeared from most Ontario orchards. But it has made a tremendous comeback and is gaining popularity with today’s generation. Its distinctive rough, rusty skin with gold undertones makes it impossible to miss. The drier flesh has a delightfully nutty and pearlike flavour. It is an excellent apple for eating fresh, cooking, stewing, and making cider.

These are a cross between the Harvest Apple and the Golden Delicious and combines the best features of both; the thin skin, tartness, and translucent texture of the Harvest Apples flesh, and the sweetness and firmer texture of the Golden Delicious.
