We resumed regular business hours today - Tuesday, September 26. We would like to sincerely thank all of our patrons for their patience while we were closed last week. The community support we have received during this tough time is truly appreciated. We are very blessed to serve such a supportive and wonderful community.

We would like to take a moment to thank the Southey & District Lioness Club for all of the hard work they do creating Southey's awesome community calendar. Thank you for the opportunity support your club and advertise locally. We look forward to seeing your new and improved 2018 calendar.

With harvest getting started we will be adjusting our hours... We are still open 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and now offer on call service 24/7 - farmers don't just work 8-5 in harvest and neither do we. Like and share to spread the word.

I am... requesting that you take time to review the Yancoal Environmental Impact Statement which can be accessed on the Saskatchewan Government Website under Environmental Assessments> Projects Under Review> Yancoal - Southey. Or you can copy and paste this link into your web browser: http://www.environment.gov.sk.ca/ea2015-003 We are encouraging individuals to review the EIS to ensure Yancoal adequately addresses economic, social, cultural and environmental issues that could result from their Southey Project. If you live in Regina or Moose Jaw perhaps you are concerned about long term sustainability of Buffalo Pound Lake (Yancoal will be getting their water for mining from Buffalo Pound). If you get your water from the Hatfield aquifer, perhaps you are concerned about the potential contamination of the aquifer Perhaps you are concerned about drainage into the Qu'Appelle valley system Perhaps you are concerned about how a Chinese mining company might impact the potash industry as a whole in Saskatchewan If you live in the mine field area, perhaps you are concerned about subsistence and the ground level dropping If you live in the project area perhaps you are concerned about noise, dust, traffic, salt spray, competition for farmland, decreased property value, etc I would appreciate if you could take the time to write something as simple as a one page letter or even a more detailed critique of the EIS and submit ([email protected]) to the Ministry of Environment by May 24, 2016. Right now we will encourage everyone to work towards the May 24, 2016 deadline. If we are successful in getting and additional 30 days to review I will let you all know.
