Babies can experience a variety of restrictions and issues stemming from the birthing process. A long and/or difficult delivery, as well as the prenatal stage, can all be sources of discomfort for infants. An uncomfortable position in the mother’s pelvis, a narrow growing space or a breech presentation can all cause pain for the baby due to strong pressure points. Osteopathic techniques performed on infants are very gentle, painless, and do not involve any constraints on the ...body. Restrictions within the infant may not be visibly apparent. A very light pressure from the fingers is applied to unblock tensions. Aside from their small aches and pains, babies can develop normally and thrive. Geoff Mabey, Manual Osteopath, is offering Osteopathic appointments for infants at our Max Health Prospect Street Clinic on Tuesday mornings. To inquire about an appointment, please contact the clinic at 451-6837 x2.

10 TIPS for Injury Prevention While Raking 1. Make sure your rake is the right size: avoid using a rake that is too short or too heavy. You should not need to bend over while holding the rake. You may also want to consider wearing gloves and choosing a rake with a cushioned handle. 2. Be aware of your posture: try to keep your body upright with a neutral spine (remember good posture and avoid bending through back). 3. Use shorter strokes: avoid reaching far away fro...m your body to pull leaves back. 4. Reposition feet or pivot instead of twisting. 5. Keep the work manageable: Create smaller piles of leaves when raking a larger area. 6. Bend from the knees and squat when lifting piles to place in a bag or wheelbarrow. 7. Avoid raking when leaves are wet and slippery. 8. Don’t rush: when you start to speed up the pace, you may be putting yourself at a higher risk for injury 9. Take breaks: rest when you feel short of breath or tired. Don't continue if you experience sudden or prolonged discomfort or pain. 10. Warm up and cool down: allow 5-10 minutes for a short walk and some light stretches prior to starting and after finishing. Contact us at 506-451-6837. #chiropractic #physiotherapy #massagetherapy #athletictherapy #leaves #raking #welovefall
